Who Tumblr is Sending to NYFW: The Full List

Yesterday, we gave you a sneak preview of five of the 20 bloggers Tumblr is planning to send to New York Fashion Week next month. After a selection process that sounded quite intensive, Tumblr narrowed down hundreds of submissions down to 20 blogs–16 new ones as well as four of last year’s success stories. All 20 have just been announced and they are definitely ones to watch.

So, without further ado, here is the full list of the 20 blogging stars you might be seeing around the tents in two weeks, plus a little blurb about who they are, via Rich Tong (Tumblr’s fashion director)’s Tumblr.

Zac Posen Talks His New Z Spoke Store, Designing Furniture and Why Cooking Keeps Him Sane

Last night we popped by the opening of Zac Posen‘s new Z Spoke store in the Meatpacking district. The new space, painted white and replete with a red carpet, fresh flowers and stacks of fashion-y book, is, much like it’s dynamo designer, the last word on glamour. We caught up with Posen, who looked adorably dapper (of course) in a pantsuit and colorful graphic shirt, to talk about the new space, his crazy work schedule (sometimes he doesn’t sleep) and the future of Z Spoke.

Fashionista: The store looks amazing. How did you pick this spot?
Actually the spot picked me! Our CEO is also the CEO of Scoop so we wanted to build the new store into Scoop’s space. I wanted to have a store that was a destination location, and I feel like this is it. You know, I’m a born a bred New Yorker so I knew it was important to have a destination.

Where in New York did you grow up?
I was born in SoHo on Spring street. My dad’s an artist, he worked in half the loft and we lived in the other half.

Is the building still standing?
My parents still live there! Yeah, so what I think of my parents is that they were hipsters. That’s why I’m so into glamour.

Charlotte Ronson To Launch Beauty at Sephora Next Month

As if Sam Ronson’s hard-working sister Charlotte didn’t have enough on her plate (her I Heart Ronson line for JCPenney sells like hotcakes for the mass market, while her own namesake collection is gearing up to debut at Fashion Week in a matter of weeks), the designer darling is ambitiously expanding to beauty as well. With a tagline like ‘effortless beauty, under any spotlight’, the Charlotte Ronson beauty collection will launch in a Sephora near you this September.

This week, a smattering of Hollywood’s hottest It-girls (and, quite conveniently, Ronson’s best gal pals) including Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Nicky Hilton, Rashida Jones, Kidada Jones, Mindy Kaling, Monet Mazur, Drea de Matteo and Lake Bell crowded into Il Sole (one of Ronson’s self-declared favorite haunts in L.A.) to fete the new collection and dabble with the pretty eye shadow palettes, shiny lip glosses and face luminizers on display; while simultaneously noshing on decadent plates of burrata, truffle pasta and dover sole. (Sidenote, we also spied Sam Ronson sneakily ordering off the menu in between courses.)

As for the products, Ronson smartly named several of them after the starlets themselves, which will surely boost sales.

Madewell To Launch a Catalog! Creative Director Kin Ying Lee On How It Will be Different from J.Crew’s and the Evolution of the Brand

We’ve never been shy about our unabashed love for Madewell–so we were pretty psyched to hear that the brand is putting out a catalog, set to hit stores on August 27. Madewell’s big sis J.Crew does a catalog like none other, so we were pretty confident Madewell would do a bang-up job with theirs. And they did.

We got a first look at the brand’s inaugural catalog a few weeks ago on Madewell’s road trip to Montauk where Madewell’s creative director Kin Ying Lee and J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler were both on hand to talk about the brand to a handful of editors. Issue #1 of Madewell’s catalog looks more like an expensive indie fashion mag–it’s oversized (10×13″ on matte broadsheet) and mixes editorial features with Madewell designers and brand “insiders” (think Alexa Chung) with beautiful images of the fall collection. The catalog will be quarterly, with the next issue set to drop for Holiday 2011.

We got a chance to talk with Kin, a calm counter to Mickey’s high energy, about Madewell’s evolution, her fall favorites, and how Madewell’s mag will set itself apart from imposing big sis J.Crew.

Fashion News Roundup: Isaac Mizrahi Won’t Show At NYFW, Lagerfeld’s New Perfume And New Albums From Charlotte Gainsbourg and Twiggy

Isaac Mizrahi Won’t Show At NYFW: The designer filmed a video blog revealing that he’ll be putting out a lookbook instead of a runway show. He thinks it sounds “more modern… for about one second” and jokes that “next season we’ll be planning our fabulous Lollapalooza fashion show in 3D.” {Isaac Mizrahi}

Charlotte Gainsbourg’s New EP And Music Video: The Balenciaga muse’s third album, Terrible Angels EP, will come out September 6; until then, sate your hunger with this crazy cool video that includes Gainsbourg clones doing a choreographed dance routine. {Pitchfork}

Karl Lagerfeld Announces New Perfume, Karleidescope: I would buy this just for the semi-ridiculous name, but it also sounds intriguing: it’s “ultra feminine” with notes of violet, patchouli, angelica and freesia that supposedly smell different on each woman. { French Vogue}

Watch: Anna Wintour Doesn’t Think She’s Intimidating

Forbes just released their list of the World’s Most Powerful Women and, as expected, Anna Wintour made the cut. What is surprising: she’s only #69. Though it’s expected that politicians would top an editor (Angela Merkel was #1 and Hillary Clinton is #2), we were a little shocked that Lady Gaga came it at #11 (the highest non-politician or businesswoman on the list) and Beyoncé was #18.

It’s (Almost) Official: Another Report Says Marc Jacobs Is In at Dior

“High-ranking industry sources” have confirmed to The Daily that Marc Jacobs will replace John Galliano as creative director at Christian Dior.

A Marc Jacobs spokesperson could not be reached for comment as Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy are both out of the office (The Daily speculates the two may be in Paris, negotiating the deal with Dior). However a Dior spokesperson was reached and they said, “I have no comment,” which we all know is code for “probs.”

Steve Jobs’ Resigns as CEO of Apple: A Tribute to His Uniform

It’s a sad day for dad jeans and turtlenecks everywhere: Steve Jobs announced yesterday that he would be stepping down as CEO of Apple Inc.

While Jobs will remain on the board at the company, he will no longer act as leader or public figure of the brand, which means we’re going to see a whole lot less of Jobs’ famous uniform: black turtlenecks, jeans, and New Balance sneakers.

Dasha Zhukova and Shala Monroque’s New Magazine Garage Features a Lily Donaldson Puppet, Lettuce McQueen and Tattooed Labia

After her brief and less than well-received stint as Pop‘s editor-in-chief, it sounds like Dasha Zhukova has finally found a place to do her fashion-meets-art thing her way. Her new magazine, Garage, debuts for fall 2011 and the New York Times‘ Eric Wilson got a preview.

The art collector, fashion designer, and girlfriend of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, named the magazine after the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, a museum she opened in Moscow in 2008. Garage’s art director, Mike Meiré tells the Times, “It is so very, very different from other magazines,” and that sounds pretty accurate. According to Wilson, it “looks almost handmade.”

The inaugural issue has multiple covers: One was a collaboration between artist Dinos Champan and Show Studio’s Nick Knight and features a creepy dollhouse in which a puppet version of Lily Donaldson wears Marc Jacobs. Another cover features a model shot nude from the waist down, her nether regions covered by a butterfly sticker that can be peeled off to reveal…a butterfly tattoo. On a vagina.
