Filmmaker and style icon Sofia Coppola married longtime rocker boyfriend Thomas Mars Saturday in the remote southern Italian village of Bernalda. The rumors about her dress were true--Sofia wore a custom made lavender gown by Azzedine Alaïa and here is the first photograph to emerge, via People.
Her father, Francis Ford Coppola, walked her down the aisle in the garden of his villa, Palazzo Margherita. The civil ceremony was officiated by Bernalda's mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi, who told the Associated Press, "If they wanted to do a Hollywood wedding, they wouldn't have done it here...(They) chose to do it here because it's here--it's here that is beautiful."
Sofia looks beautiful and happy and totally herself. While her dress--which has touches of Alaïa's couture collection--may not be the most traditional, neither is she; and even though we can't see all of it, this might be my favorite dress out of all this summer's many celebrity weddings. The color and subtle print are perfect on her and looks lovely next to Thomas' navy suit.
Love them! What do you think of the dress?
