She designed her own Emmy gown, telling the Hollywood Reporter that after looking at “9 million dresses with taffeta or shiny bows,” she gave in to a design passion she’s had since she was a teen, getting some help from dressmaker Daniella Pearl. And she’s not stopping at that one dress: she’s planning to launch a whole plus-size line. “Trying to find stuff that’s still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible. It’s either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle,” the 41-year-old mom of two said.
We couldn’t be happier for McCarthy, especially since she first hit our consciousness as the subject of that ugly “anti-fat” rant from a Marie Claire blogger last year.
