Blogger of the moment Leandra Medine aka the Man Repeller made an appearance on Tom Keene’s Bloomberg show Surveillance Midday yesterday. Keene seems amazed and a little frightened by her in this interview, and even compares her to the New York Times phenom Brian Stelter, who got scooped up by the paper of record after he launched TVNewser while in college.

It is pretty hard to believe that Leandra Medine only launched The Man Repeller a little over a year ago, considering not only its popularity, but all of the projects and collaborations that have already come out of it, like the collaboration with Dannijo that she promotes during the segment.

Here, in addition to discussing the blog’s premise and the difficulty of getting around fashion week on 9/11, she reveals how she monetizes the blog, which includes charging for advertising, taking a commission on everything she links to, not having a clothing expense because she’s “sent so much clothing,” and things that she does with other brands that she makes money on.

When Keene asks, “So if you mention someone on Man Repeller, you expect to be paid for that?” She responds, “I don’t expect to,” but it sounds like that is what happens. She also reveals that she intends to have a book come out “in the near future” and is in talks with a few different publishing houses.

The news isn’t exactly surprising, and her blog will probably lend itself well to book format. Would you buy it? See below to watch the whole interview.
