Lindsay Lohan Will Attend Milan Fashion Week As the New Face of Philipp Plein
By Hayley Phelan Wednesday, Sep 21, 2011 / 9:49 AMLindsay Lohan’s had a rough go of it. No question about it. And after all her legal troubles, drug and alcohol problems and terrible collagen injections, what the girl really needs is a comeback. I mean, hey, Britney did it right?
Well, we’re happy to report Lindsay is really trying. Case in point: The troubled star has agreed to be the face of young German designer Philipp Plein’s new spring 2012 campaign. Don’t worry, we hadn’t heard of him until now either. Remember, this is the girl who used to star in Miu Miu campaigns, for god’s sake.
No word yet on how the campaign will be styled, though in a press release Plein assures us, “Lindsay is a beautiful, highly acclaimed actress and model. We will be able to create unique images: Refined and luxurious, but also full of sensuality.” That’s good to hear because Plein’s current ad campaign features a woman wearing nothing but a sticker in the shape of a skull (!?) on her ladybits.
But while Lohan might be a bit clueless (or desperate for a gig), we think Plein knows exactly what he’s doing. In 2010, the German designer named Mischa Barton as the face of his new campaign–proving that he really knows how to mine the whole It-girl-past-her-prime element. We can’t tell if he’s scraping the bottom of the barrel, or if he is the bottom of that proverbial barrel but either way, it’s certainly one way to get your name out there as a young designer.
Oh, and if you’re around Milan this weekend, Plein will show his new collection this Saturday (September 24) at 9pm, and yes, Lindsay Lohan will be there.
