MILAN–Missoni is hitting all the right notes at the moment: their memorable campaign with Leighton Meester, and the recent gargantuan success of their Target collaboration–modeled by Margherita–proved that the classic Italian house still knows how to remain contemporary.
This was further reflected in the show, which was young and “re-interpreting our language, which is a constant challenge,” said Angela Missoni backstage, minutes after the show.
This season, it was all about flamenco: shawls with fringe and plenty of flounces, asymmetrical lines, and off the shoulder tops. Looks were shown first in an aqua palette, followed by warmer earth tones, and later in embroidered leopard-print, all in the house’s trademark weaves.
It was then followed by raspberry layers, dresses worn with straight leg trousers and cropped blazer jackets. “She’s young, she’s fun, she’s been dancing all night”, said Angela–and, as the few pairs of trousers hinted, she’s could also go straight to work.
