West Hollywood Bans The Sale of Fur: It’s the first U.S. city to do so. The law doesn’t include animal pelts or secondhand/vintage pieces though. {Daily Mail}

Ricky’s Was Going To Sell An “Anna Rexia” Costume: It featured a skeleton frame printed on a skintight black dress and had a “measuring tape” belt, presumably so the wearer could show off how tiny her waist is. Obvious outcry forced the store to pull the costume; how did this even get produced in the first place?? {Jezebel}

MILAN–Like Hermès, Gucci’s mission (or fate) is to forever reinvent horseback riding chic. This season, it did so by introducing a clear, precise palette: black, white, green, bling.

Like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde collection, the line seemed split into two opposing personalities. The daywear consisted of masculine silhouettes, mainly composed of suits–cropped jackets, green geometric motifs, gold buttons, and side zips that flared out at the trousers’ otherwise straight ankles. As for nighttime, the decisively more girly looks made a straightforward reference to 1920s flappers: fringed hems, drop waists and loose sleeveless tops.

The Prada livestream is starting now (noon EST)! Click HERE to see what goodies Muiccia is sending down her runway for spring 2012.

No, the humanitarian and former South African president is not making a career change into fashion in his ’90s. However, he is the central inspiration for a new South African apparel brand called 46664, which was Nelson Mandela‘s prison ID number and is also the name of the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s AIDS awareness campaign.

The men’s and women’s brand has strong ties to Mandela’s legacy and, thus, to South Africa’s history, but also its future, as a sustainable way to benefit the country’s struggling clothing and textile manufacturing industries, as well as the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s charitable endeavors.

Prada is easily the most hotly anticipated show of Milan Fashion week. And we’re live-streaming it on our site, starting at noon.

We’ll remind you again just before the show starts, but you’ll click here to watch it. We caught a sneak peek at the runway through the livestream cam and there are CARS on the runway (way to one up Kanye, hehe). We’re already excited.

LOS ANGELES–When it comes to personal style, there’s no better embodiment of a brazen fashionista than Alexa Chung; and it’s no wonder that Madewell tapped her for a second collaborative collection (sales of her debut collection went through the roof) this fall. InStyle hosted a celebratory soiree in her honor last night, the eve before the collection hits stores, at the Chateau Marmont and packed the house with a stylish set including Amanda Seyfried, Diana Agron, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Zelda Williams and more.

A pop-up shop displaying the entire line occupied guests for hours, while we made the rounds to see just what it is about Chung’s style that’s so decidedly addictive.

“She’s my favorite kind of sexy,” said Kate Bosworth, hot off her European run as the face of Vanessa Bruno. “I think Alexa is so chic and unique and playful. That tomboyish femininity…like she’s not trying too hard. You can tell she’s sharp, totally a smart girl.”

Clad in a prim ivory lace dress from the collection, Elle Fanning excitedly fawned over the fashion before embracing Alexa in a sweet hug to congratulate her. “Everything is so cute! I love Madewell and I love Alexa…having them together is like heaven!” enthused the young actress, who first met Chung at the Met Ball months ago. “She’s really, really fun. I love how she sort of wears baby doll dresses but still has the tomboy thing going on. It suits her so well.”

So what did the girl of the hour have to say about all of the fashion flattery?

Dolce & Gabbana has just announced that today’s spring 2012 show for its D&G diffusion line will be the label’s last, WWD is reporting.

The trade reported back in March that there were rumors that D&G was on its last legs. Sources close to the designers as well as Italian retailers said that the two lines were “cannabalizing” each other because they were too close in price. Other retailers actually expressed surprise at the rumors, because the D&G line did especially well in Asia and Russia.

The designers said in a statement today that folding D&G back into their signature line would give “even more strength and energy to our collections.” It’s expected that the scope of the collection will increase to include other categories.

“It hurts when you’re having a tough day and someone says, ‘She’s so fucking ugly I wouldn’t let my dog near her.’ ” Nobody said that! “Yes, they have,” she insists. “And 500 people ‘liked’ it!”

A new issue of Dossier, one of our favorite glossies (and How I’m Making It panelists), drops this week and from what we’ve seen, it will be a good one. Yoko Ono follows Andrej Pejic as the latest Dossier cover star. Issue 8 features contributions from her as well as Kiki Smith, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Michael Stipe, Stevie Nicks, George Saunders, Robert Longo, Tom Sachs, Cyprien Gallard, Aimee Mullins, Nate Lowman, Devendra Banhart, Sloane Crosley, Olympia Le-Tan and AF Vandevorst, to name a few.

The ladies at Dossier were nice enough to send us an exclusive preview featuring one of our favorite models, Australian beauty Bambi Northwood-Blyth, shot by Dan Martensen. She does that whole rough around the edges, but still insanely gorgeous thing in a way that we’ll never be able to replicate. Click through to check it out!

Q. What eminent designer puts what seems like 150 looks on the runway — bottom-grabbing pencil skirts; tiny purple Floradora dresses — and forbids photography (apparently to lend an air of exclusivity, but in this case, maybe to protect his reputation) and emerges on the runway at the end of the show, then stands around with a bunny-in-the-headlights look in his eyes, waiting for a standing ovation that never comes?
A. Tom Ford.

Lynn Yaeger made up this delightfully witty, refreshingly honest quiz about London fashion week which you can read in full on The Cut. Most fashion editors wouldn’t dare to diss the great and powerful Tom Ford but not Yaeger and that’s why we love her. Also? Nice burn.

This year, Vice sent someone to London Fashion Week on acid. Yes, you read that right.

Vice convinced their friend Elektra to take a hit of acid and then sent her to the tents and then sat back and let the whole ridiculous, hilarious trip unfold in front of them. The show was Topshop Unique, and the observations were–as you can imagine–choice.

Here are some of our favorite parts from poor Elektra’s trip:
