Yesterday, we dropped by Barneys New York for a bit of breakfast and a make-up/skincare primer (couldn’t help it) with in-house beauty guru Jason Ascher. This job isn’t just about giving beauty tips to his clients; the role encompasses responsibilities as a resident make-up artist, beauty/haircare/fragrance/skincare expert, and personal shopper (plus, he’s happy to upsell clients — literally — upstairs to the shoe department or the Lanvin boutique for ensembles to match their new glow). Oh and his services are free-of-charge, although we can’t be held responsible for any impulsive purchases made following a consultation.

Ascher was on hand to convince us to trade in nude lips for bold ones, remind us to, please, please clean our makeup brushes, and introduce some new exclusive beauty lines launching at Barneys, including: Arquiste Perfumeur (“not your grandmother’s Shalimar”), Kre-at Beauty False Eyelashes (complete with a handy applicator tool), Radical Skincare (moisturize your necks, ladies!), Serge Normant haircare, Rodin Olio Lusso skin products, Claudio Riaz brushes and makeup, Hourglass brushes and cosmetics, and Astier de Villotte fancy candles. Here’s what we learned:

London fashion week was a whirlwind of shows, and we had a great time covering them. Besides being an incubator for original fashion, London designers are also not afraid to work a LOOK on their models, making for the best beauty-ogling of all the fashion weeks. From Vivienne Westwood (at left), who is not afraid of, well, anything, to more subtle yet never boring looks, we loved the beauty in London.

This is all about the drama. You need a certain amount of self-confidence to pull many of these off, but we encourage you to try!

Click through for our 10 favorite looks from London.

LONDON–What’s a London experience without a little rain? And so it was that around 6pm last Sunday, a sunny afternoon surrendered to light drizzle as several black cars queued to drop just 55 guests off at Tom Ford’s showroom on a side street near Victoria Station for his intimate spring 2012 fashion show. Several male models clad in black three piece suits ushered them inside under enormous umbrellas, a scene more suitable for an embassy dinner than a runway show.

Inside on the second floor showroom, the reception desk was temporarily converted into a bar where waiters served vodka tonic, champagne and still waters. “It has an air of the old Gucci shows with Domenico Desole greetings guests and waiters serving Vodka,” Hillary Alexander told me as we sipped on drinks and waited to enter the main room.

In the late 90’s, in addition to a large bouquet of white flowers and a handwritten note to welcome us to Milano, some of us would get a bottle of vodka, or, on occasion, a 25 year-old bottle of whiskey from Mr. Ford at our hotel room. Then, the designer’s debauched sexy and slinky styles ushered a revolution in fashion. Now, we are in a different moment in time. In this digital age where images from fashion shows hold the attention span of a click to the next page, there is a need for designers to apply a different approach to how fashion can be seen and evaluated.

But back to the show.

We’ve already done our fair share of swooning over Miu Miu’s glittery booties (we saw them everywhere during New York fashion week #jealous) and now they’ve released their new glitter pumps–you know, the ones that were all up in Hailee Steinfeld‘s hair in Miu Miu’s fall campaign? If Dorothy went to fashion week she’d definitely be wearing these.

Here are some pretty up close shots of Miu Miu’s ruby slippers for you to gaze longingly at. If they must be yours, they’ll set you back $650. Or you can just click your heels three times…

Fashion and Fantasy Mix in New Shopping Technology: “Augmented Realities” are growing in popularity on online shopping sites, where the obvious lack of trying-before-buying has always been a major problem. New and improved AR apps generally involve live feeds and 3-D imagery, allowing users to “try on” clothes, makeup, glasses… and grow horns?? {NY Times}

More details are trickling in about Kanye’s Paris fashion show, and it is shaping up to be an even bigger doozy than we originally thought.

After Grazia, reported yesterday that Yeezy is allegedly employing a troupe of Central Saint Martin students (designers Louise Goldin, and Dean Quinn among them) in the production of his much-hyped line–and putting them to work in an abandoned night club, no less–we have yet another (amazingly awesome) rumored element to throw into the mix.

According to designer and artist Kesh, who Kanye has been photographed (holding hands!) with, we can expect some surprising runway props: The young designer posted on her blog about West’s upcoming show: “All I can say is Maybachs and models.”

Fournier Communications—a full-service, niche public relations and consulting firm specializing in beauty and lifestyle that has bridged the gap between European glamour and American business savvy for over a decade—is looking for Fall interns. Can you say product closet??

Your responsibilities will include press kits, event planning, maintaining clip files and social media accounts, client interaction and administrative functions. Christian Louboutin, one of the world’s most celebrated shoe designers, has completed his first book and it promises to be be more than just pretty pictures of stilettos. While his name may be more closely associated with red-soled Hollywood starlets than anything else, the man is truly an artist who is passionate about and dedicated to his craft. So perhaps that’s why people like John Malkovich and David Lynch have signed on as collaborators.

Christian Louboutin [Rizzoli] is like a biography, retrospective and photography book all rolled into one. Following a foreword by legendary actor/producer John Malkovich, there will be one chapter devoted to his biography, including his work for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent and never-before-seen personal photos; one chapter focusing on the interiors of his boutiques around the world; one chapter devoted to his “20 years of design” including still life portraits and editorials; one chapter with shots of his homes in Paris and Egypt and his studios and workshops; and one chapter devoted to his collaboration with filmmaker David Lynch called “Fetish,” a series of photographs of Louboutin’s limited-edition fetish shoes, which have been shown in galleries but never published in a book.

Blogger of the moment Leandra Medine aka the Man Repeller made an appearance on Tom Keene’s Bloomberg show Surveillance Midday yesterday. Keene seems amazed and a little frightened by her in this interview, and even compares her to the New York Times phenom Brian Stelter, who got scooped up by the paper of record after he launched TVNewser while in college.

It is pretty hard to believe that Leandra Medine only launched The Man Repeller a little over a year ago, considering not only its popularity, but all of the projects and collaborations that have already come out of it, like the collaboration with Dannijo that she promotes during the segment.

Here, in addition to discussing the blog’s premise and the difficulty of getting around fashion week on 9/11, she reveals how she monetizes the blog, which includes charging for advertising, taking a commission on everything she links to, not having a clothing expense because she’s “sent so much clothing,” and things that she does with other brands that she makes money on.
