Last night we got a chance to shop the Missoni for Target collection and boy were we excited. In fact, we were so excited that we arrived 10 minutes early so we could get first dibs on some of our most-drooled-over items.

Unfortunately, it seems like every other fashion insider had the same idea, because by the time we got there the temporary pop-up shop had become a temporary madhouse, with some of the items already sold out (don’t worry, they will restock today).

See what fashion industry’s superstars–from Nina Garcia to celebrity stylist Jennifer Rade and ex-Real Housewife Kelly Bensimon–were toting at the checkout.

Lucky hosted its second Fashion and Beauty Bloggers conference yesterday in NYC, rounding up serious star power into discussion panels moderated by the mag’s editors.

Designers Diane von Furstenberg, Rebecca Minkoff, and Rachel Roy were among the speakers, as were nail polish guru Essie Weingarten, Man Repeller Leandra Medine, and Rachel Zoe’s other half Rodger Berman.

Oh, and the Kardashian sisters, the magazine’s mildly famous October cover girls, who arrived with an E! camera crew and dozens of printed release forms in tow. Without further ado, some of our favorite takeaways from the day:

The Kardashians really do behave like their on-screen personalities. Khloe tacked on “work it baby!” and other outlandish comments to her sisters’ answers, making the crowd laugh whenever possible. Also like her TV persona, Khloe was the most candid and forthright, saying she loves accessories the most out of everything in her closet, because “no matter what weight [she goes] go up to”, her “bags and shoes always fit”. Amen.

We’ve weathered many fashion weeks at Fashionista, from trudging through snow during AW10 to sunny showroom appointments for Resort 2012. In our travels, we Fashionista editors and contributors have learned exactly what we need in our satchels to keep us happy, pretty (or at least not too hideous looking), and on time. Want to see [...]

On a dreary, drizzling September day when summer’s end is painfully felt, Steven Alan’s Spring 2012 presentation gave us a much-needed dose of color.

The collection bears Alan’s Americana stamp, invoking a ’60s slightly preppy beachcomber with his signature suit-style separates offset by chambray accents, playful prints
(see a baseball player-printed frock) and straw hats. Fall’s muted, West-Coast-canyon palette was amped up to bright citrus hues and tennis whites inspired by the watercolors of artist Alex Katz.

Yesterday the Anna Dello Russo was on hand in New York to talk about her latest role as “guest editor at large” for Macy’s INC line. Though the Vogue Japan editor and OG street style star is known for wearing head-to-toe runway looks, styling for Macy’s wasn’t as much of a stretch as you’d think.

“Having followed Anna and her past and her present and the huge following that she has in both the fashion community as well as the millennial customer, we thought she would bring just a tremendous amount of creativity and experience and a creative voice to our campaign,” said Nancy Slavin, SVP of Marketing at MMG. We’d have to agree. In her role as “editor at large” she styled the campaign (lots of yellow and gold) using her deep fashion connections to snag supermodel Karolina Kurkova (and herself) and photographer Inez van Lamsweerde. Well played, Macy’s.

We sat down with ADR, who looked stunning as ever in a tight ruched black INC mini (note to self: do some yoga), to talk about her work with Macy’s, her appeal to the “younger generation,” why fashion is too serious, and finally, Marc Jacobs at Dior.

Erin Brockovich and Brangelina have nothing on Kelly Cutrone, who should now think of adding lobbyist/activist to her prolific resume. As we were waiting for the What Goes Around Comes Around show to begin a the Soho Grand yesterday afternoon (more on that shortly), we had a moment to catch up with the power publicist/author/reality star/Dr. Phil correspondent and found ourselves pretty impressed. While Manhattan emerged from Hurricane Irene’s path largely unscathed last week–save for a profusion of weather-related fashion Tweets, major Sunday hangovers, and rescheduled runway shows– other parts of the Northeast weren’t so fortunate.

“My house–I have $400,000 worth of damage at my home upstate, which is really funny because I convinced the Vice President of MTV to leave New York so she wasn’t stuck,” Cutrone said. “We ended up being rescued on harnesses with ropes.”

While publicists and security guards at fashion shows often seem like dictators, Gulnara Karimova, who is set to show her line Guli at Lincoln Center on September 15, is the daughter of an actual, murderous, dictator–and human rights activists are none too pleased that her clothes are hitting the runways.

Karimova is daughter of Uzbek dictator Islam Karimov (he’s famous for boiling an enemy alive). She has been linked to the Russian mob, and labor rights activists have charged that she and her father are responsible for the enforced labor of children in cotton fields, the New York Post is reporting. She’s also been a pop singer (stage name Googoosha) and done a jewelry collaboration with Chopard, according to an April profile in the Telegraph and a 2010 article on HuffPo, respectively.

She’s not so beloved in the world of politics and human rights, but this is the second time she’s showing at New York fashion week–she showed in September 2010, too. Her line, Guli, is established in Europe and she’s shown at Milan in the past.

The Kardashian sisters officially launched their Kardashian Kollection for Sears at their campaign photographer Annie Liebovitz’s studio in the meatpacking district Tuesday night. And while I, and most of the guests at the press preview, had gotten soaked through thanks to an unending downpour, Kim, Kourtney and Khloe looked impeccably coiffed and, yes, chic in their Sears’ togs–not to mention enviably dry.

Since the Kardashians are a family that sticks together, mama Kris was there too–looking super hot in that black polka-dot sheer Stella McCartney–and so was Kourtney’s beau Scott Disick.

The sisters were on publicist lock-down and not talking to any reporters (save the NYT, sad face), so we happily chatted with Bruno Schiavi–the designer who worked with the sisters to produce their Sears collection.

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe might be sisters by they’ve got different styles. “Kim’s Hollywood, Kourtney’s the bohemian and Khloe’s the rocker,” Schiavi explained, “and we tried to blend them together.”

And it seems they blend well. Even though the collection has only been on Sears’ shelves for less than a week, items from the collection have already sold out–before the official launch.
