In one of fashion’s least likely success stories, Onch, who you may remember (but hopefully don’t) from the 2008-2009 MTV series Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, has established himself as Nicki Minaj‘s preferred provider of food-themed jewelry. Minaj has worn an Onch Movement necklace to almost every appearance she’s had since the VMAs. Most recently, she wore the above necklace, which looks like a piece of fried chicken dipped in pink paint. At this point, we would be concerned if we saw a picture of Minaj without a colorful piece of food around her neck.
In the interest of trying to predict Minaj’s next look, we checked out Onch’s website and were relieved to find several food necklaces that have yet to grace the prime real estate that is Nicki Minaj’s clavicle. So, click through for a round up of Nicki Minaj’s Onch Movement moments, plus the crazy shit we’ll surely be seeing her in soon.
Also worth noting: Almost all of them are under $100, meaning they are arguably affordable enough to complete your Nicki Minaj Halloween costume.
YouTube makeup tutorials (a genre popularized largely by Michelle Phan, aka Rice Bunny) are huge among the teenaged set, but these girls may just have to step aside. Meet five-year-old makeup maven, Madison, who is taking precocious to a whole new level with her YouTube makeup tutorials.
Thankfully, it’s all done in a refreshingly unsexy way–Madison’s mom seems to get it, and never lets her child look too, you know, creepy. Case in point? While Madison is showing us how to do a “bridal look” (um, hilarious) she says, “First is foundation, but my mom doesn’t let me wear it, so…” and then shows us on her hand. She then proceeds to throw around lingo like “stippling brush” as easily as Pat McGrath. Read more »
Yes, you read that correctly. Some weird, magical series of events has brought together beloved NY1 anchor Pat Kiernan–best known for “Pat’s Papers,” and for being Leah’s favorite person ever–and fashion blogger-of-the-moment The Man Repeller aka Leandra Medine. According to Pat’s blog (yes, he has a blog), the two were brought together on Twitter. He explains,
She’s a fan of my morning show on NY1. Somewhere in that exchange of messages I promised to read her blog aloud. It might have been a little tricky to explain the gag to the entire NY1 audience. So I passed on the urge to read about turtlenecks on NY1 today. But my pledge was not forgotten.
“I used to smoke so much pot when I was living there [the Dutch town of Mierlo]. That’s why I can’t remember so much. But really it’s just a plant.”
–Model Lara Stone in T magazine, on how pot smoking has affected her. She also praised the social benefits which Amsterdam’s red-light district prostitutes receive. The take-home message? Vice occasionally pays off. (We kid. Just say no!) Read more »

MILAN–When Emporio Armani’s models marched down the runway wearing straw boater hats and menswear inspired black and white cuts, one word came to mind: Coco. Sure, that’s an obvious one, but it’s a risky bet to take when Chanel’s last couture collection opted for similar headpieces and a similar (and hallmark) color palette.
But this resemblance was fleeting. Soon the collection was spiced up, but discreetly: glitter slips poked out of dresses, sleeveless jackets were done in sequins, and dog collar necklaces were worn over the white shirts. Yet the clothes still maintained the clean-cut, menswear-inspired look–think blazers with cropped black trousers and white seams.
With fashion month in full swing, the passing of trends and fanciful creations we’re seeing both on and off the runways often leave us with a desire for something reliable, classic and simple, like that illusive perfect pair of jeans. That perfect-fitting, basic pair that are high quality, yet versatile is something that every woman needs, but can’t seem to find. Until now.
Thanks to G-Star Raw, you can finally cross that off your shopping list. With their new 3301 range, the always-reliable brand seeks to fill that hole in our wardrobe by offering clean, easy, paired-down denim in a variety of timeless fits and washes. They’ve re-imagined the traditional 5-pocket style to create G-Star’s cleanest denim style yet. They’re those wear-everywhere jeans that can go from day to night with the switch of a blouse or adding of a heel.
Obviously, the world is no Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and G-Star realizes that the same pair of jeans aren’t going to fit every woman. Thus, the 3301 is available in both straight and bootleg fits, and five different washes, ranging from dark Denim to their super-soft Comfort Link Denim–each one simple and versatile, but still undeniably cool.
June Ambrose is Getting a VH1 Show: The stylist to Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will get her own show in early 2012, but don’t expect a Rachel Zoe copy; she’ll dress her big clients but also give style and brand advice to emerging talents. {Stylelist}
Your Exclusive Prada Bag Is Actually Made in India: Prada used to source their materials from India and ship them to Italy, but now they’re cutting out the shipping costs by making them at the source and then charging more for the cheaper-made piece. They’re reasoning? The “Made In India” label is exclusive. {Racked}
Lady Gaga Sued Her Own Fan Site: Gaga’s team sued the operators of LadyGaga.org (est: 2008) claiming they “intentionally registered the domain name to capitalize on Lady Gaga’s fame.” But the site doesn’t actually make any money, only gives love to their Queen, so the courts ruled against it. Odd for someone who claims to love her fans so much, don’t you think? {Styleite}
Our prayers have been answered: WWD is reporting that Kate Moss will once again try her hand at designing, this time for LVMH jewelry line Fred.
The jewelry collection is inspired by Moss‘s many tattoos, and will accordingly feature anchors, hearts, stars and crescent moons done up in gold and precious stones. There’ll be 22 styles to choose from and the collection will go on sale starting October 1 in Fred stores in France and on its e-boutique.
Last week, Lindsay Lohan was named the face of young German designer Philipp Plein‘s spring 2012 campaign. And this week Lohan really threw herself into her “face” duties, sitting front row at Plein’s Milan show, hanging out with the designer all around town, and even wrapping the Spring 2012 campaign shoot.
Thankfully, the campaign (which we saw in progress on JustJared) is far classier than we first feared. Shot in Como on what looks like a diving board, Lohan proved her modeling skills, posing artfully in a red-and-white outfit (American flag bag included) while scaling a ladder in scary-high stilettos. She also donned a pretty floor-length gown in the shoot. Overall, we have to say, Lindsay looked well…nice: She smiled, laughed and looked generally happy and more put together than usual. Plus, it’s nice to see the girl in something that covers more than her upper thigh.
