Kate Middleton a Vogue covergirl? Anna Wintour reportedly wants to make it happen.
According to Page Six, Vogue‘s Editor in Chief has been campaigning to snag the Duchess of Cambridge as the magazine’s next cover star. Apparently, since the announcement of Middleton’s engagement to Prince William, magazines have been clamoring to get the “modern princess” on their cover–but landing the Duchess is trickier than it sounds, as, “the Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate,” a source told Page Six.
That being said, if anyone can get the job done it’s Anna. The editrix has been appealing to long-time collaborator, photographer Mario Testino, who has a close relationship with the Royals (he also shot their official engagement portraits). While Vogue and Kate seem like a good fit, we’re not getting our hopes up just yet, since Alexandra Shulman of British Vogue also tried to get Testino to shoot Middleton for her cover and failed.
Either way, if Kate Middleton wasn’t already officially the toast of the fashion world, the fact that Anna Wintour is sucking up to her has certainly sealed her status. We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed Anna gets her way (and you know, she usually does)!
