The Fashionista 15: New York Labels To Watch

Ace & Jig
Unlike so many other affordable brands out there, Ace&Jig is the antithesis of throwaway fast fashion: Instead of churning out hundreds of ultra-trendy pieces, the new label aims to create “a seasonless women’s collection loosely based on one fabrication.” With a unique, one-of-a-kind yarn-dye woven fabric–present throughout all their collections–Ace&Jig manages to produce the comfortable staples we need, while still pulling off an exotic-flea-market-find vibe. More importantly, the label has pledged to improve the living conditions in India, where they’ve partnered with a local textile manufacture dedicated to “practicing the holistic kaizen philosophy of continuing to improve,” providing free childcare and reclaiming water to grow organic produce for their employees. And with big-name endorsements–the label’s already been picked up by Madewell and been spotlighted in Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion presented by smart car show–we’re sure Ace&Jig will continue to do good, both in the fashion industry and beyond.
