Shot by Roitfeld‘s pal Mario Sorrenti for Barneys’ “Carine’s World” campaign, this two-part video shows an intimate peek “into the enticing world of Carine Roitfeld,” following the ex-Voguette from her gorgeous Parisian apartment through taxicab rides, showroom appointments, and an intimate dinner with friends and family.

Roitfeld on the importance of clothing:

People are more important than the clothes. Clothes…it could be just like a nice envelope. But it’s more important, the letter inside the envelope than the envelope.

Roitfeld on making it in the fashion industry:

I’ve never been an assistant. You don’t climb the stairs, you go down. Because when you go to a fashion show, the best walk is the first walk.

On upcoming projects:

After [this project], I don’t know what I’m going to do. Maybe I will let life decide a little bit for myself.

On the demands of the industry:

This business it take [sic] everything from you. Me, I always mix everything…maybe it’s not so good. You just get one life so everything’s mixed together–work, travelling…

But our absolute favorite part has to be at the end of the first video, when a subdued Carine looks out beyond the balcony of her (yes, again, gorgeous) Parisian apartment and then shares a tender moment with partner of thirty years Christian Restoin, where he twirls her in the air with one big bear hug.
