PARIS–Every editor in the room began to swoon from look one–we all wanted everything. Since Phoebe Philo has taken the helm at Céline, the brand has quickly become the editor and fashion-enthusiast go-to uniform. And every stylist wants to shoot Céline looks and every celeb wants to wear it: what more can a maison ask for? Nothing! Céline is perfect in every way.
This season, Ms. Philo did not disappoint her many fans in the crowd. White and black stark looks sprinkled with jewel tones in ruby and emerald were an image of chic with a dash of girly-ness by way of a flounce panel here and a peplum there. I loved the black leather minimalist motorcycle jacket with the subtle peplum in back. A prediction among my fellow editors in our discussions after the show was that the red and white graphic tops are going to fly off the racks.
Wide leg trousers swished underneath various takes on tees, and white shirts were nipped in at the waist. I am particularly favoring the white trousers with the sheer black panel on the front, especially good for creating a long lean silhouette. After all of the color and crazy looks I have been witnessing in the collections and on the show-goers, Céline was the perfect palette cleanser of sophisticated and stealth must-have clothes, bags and shoes. This show is definitely going to be my spring uniform inspiration.
