PARIS–15-year-old Miu Miu campaign face Hailee Steinfeld looked perfectly adorable (and age appropriate) at yesterday’s Miu Miu show in a flouncy beige party frock with a pink bodice and oversized bow at the back. It’s been a whirlwind year for the actress since she burst onto the scene after her standout performance in True Grit, and endeared herself to the fashion set wearing well-chosen Prada, Miu Miu and Stella McCartney looks on the red carpet. She sealed the deal with Miu Miu and landed their stellar Bruce Weber-shot fall campaign.
We checked in with the preternaturally poised starlet about her past year in fashion, Tavi, and blogging about fashion.
What’s the experience been like, working with Miu Miu this past year?
Oh my gosh, it has been so much fun. I have had such a blast getting to know everyone that works with the brand. Just going from about a year and a half ago when I was doing the press for True Grit and the awards circuit and learning about the different designers and getting to wear them and having Miu Miu be one of my favorites–then having something like [the campaign] come along was really huge for me. It’s been an honor.
Are you going to stay involved in fashion after the campaign ends?
Oh absolutely, it has become a big part of my life.
Last time we saw you, at the launch party for Miu Miu’s fall sunglasses in LA, you were hanging out with Tavi. Are you a fan? Do you read her site?
I love Tavi. What I love about her so much is she’s such a cool girl. We’re the same age and the fact that she has something that she’s so into–and it’s fashion…and her blog is the coolest thing in the world. We have so much in common. I really enjoyed hanging out with her.
Would you ever consider blogging?
What would you blog about?
I feel like I’d start with something to do with fashion and then I’d go into a bajillion different things. But, yeah, fashion seems like a really great thing to write about.
