We’re not sure what’s better: Tyra’s dancing skills or the excellent use of smizes (which exist in Tyra’s fantasy novel, Modelland). It will brighten your day. Read more »

By now, most of you are probably sick of familiar with New York and Milan’s squabble over Fashion Week dates. While there’s no solution in sight–and both sides seem equally stubborn in their position–former CFDA head and founder of New York fashion week Fern Mallis thinks that eventually a compromise will be found.

The industry big wig told The Wall Street Journal, “If I put my money on it and guess, I think maybe they will get together and move New York up a few days.” And that’s not small talk, considering Mallis is still an important consultant for the industry event.

After all the hub-bub over the royal wedding–and particularly, the wedding dress–we were sure we’d see a slew of Middleton-inspired looks this bridal season. But according to the Wall Street Journal, “bridal experts played down any Kate Middleton effect.”

Although Middleton’s gown attracted over 600,000 visitors when on display at the Buckingham palace, it hasn’t been as big a hit for civilian brides. “Other designers copied [Middleton's gown] and had it on the runway right away, but what we noticed though, is that nobody bought it,” designer Gregory Nato of Fancy New York bridal, told the Journal.

Indeed, bridal heavy-hitters like Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier and Carolina Herrera showed almost exclusively bare-armed looks and many of the silhouettes bore only a vague (if any) resemblance to the famous Sarah Burton for McQueen dress. However there was a familiar silhouette, perhaps thanks to another royal wedding of sorts: that mermaid/trumpet style Kim Kardashian chose for her big day was everywhere–on the runways of Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Monique Lhuillier. Could Kim K really have more selling power than Kate Middleton when it comes to wedding dresses? Hmm….

Karl Lagerfeld/Chanel

Attention, fashion geeks and magazine collectors: Harper’s Bazaar Russia is celebrating its 15th anniversary and they released 15 different covers designed by some pretty big-name designers. (Thanks, Fashion Spot.) Karl Lagerfeld did a gorgeous cover featuring Natasha Poly (above), while several of our faves–like Armani, Sonia Rykiel, and Michael Kors–did pretty fashion sketches. Jean Paul Gaultier’s cover is so quintessentially him, yet also so very Russian. Other designers incorporated their own recognizable elements into the covers–Missoni did a zigzag knit pattern, Versace went golden, and Dolce & Gabbana featured its popular fall 2011 star print (as well as Candice Swanepoel and Alessandra Ambrosio). Click through to see all the covers–and start hitting up all your Russian connections to see if you can collect all 15. Read more »

We’ve already examined Miss Piggy’s style evolution, which has definitely entered a new, high-fashion period as she’s on the cusp of opening her first new movie in 12 years. (Well, she’s technically part of an ensemble cast, but Piggy obviously shines and will find a way to the top of the movie poster). While her style tends to run a bit to the drag queen side of the spectrum–which we support and embrace–she’s just landed an eight-page editorial spread in November’s InStyle, WWD reports, wearing some of the classiest designers in the business.

Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Suno, Opening Ceremony, Brian Atwood, and Giles & Brother all created custom pieces especially for the diva’s InStyle spread. Jason Wu (at left) went with his signature feathers, while Prabal Gurung (below) opted for a more sedate all-white number. You can see the whole editorial on Friday when the mag hits newsstands.

This week Paris Hilton walked the runways…at Ukranian Fashion Week. We’ll just let that sink in for a moment.

This is the girl who, after all, only a handful of years ago, dominated the glossies and tabloids. She had a hit TV show, a popular single, and a New York Times bestselling book. But this was the early aughties–a heady period of exposed navels (don’t forget the rhinestone encrusted belly button studs), juicy couture track suits, fake tans and platinum blonde hair.

But while Paris’ cohorts spent the past five years growing up and leaving the princessy, party-girl act in the past–Nicole Richie became a designer, Kim Kardashian became a bona fide A-list celeb (whether you like it or not, it’s kinda true)–Hilton seems perpetually stuck in the early 2000s, at least when it comes to her style.

Between the platinum hair, orange tan, oversized white sunglasses, sweatsuits and itty-bitty lingerie club dresses, Paris’ 2011 looks are nearly interchangeable with the fashion that was in a decade ago.

Take a look at her non-evolution of style.

We’ll admit that Bridal Fashion Week is not quite as on our radar as the ready-to-wear fashion weeks. Not that we don’t appreciate a gorgeous wedding gown and the talent that goes into each one, but when you’ve seen one white ball gown…

That being said, when a bridal designer does something out of the ordinary–especially when that designer is VERA WANG, whose name cannot be mentioned without conjuring up images of gorgeous ivory gowns and the celebrities who have worn them–we take notice. Yesterday in New York, Vera Wang showed her Fall 2012 bridal collection, which included seven black gowns.

Apparently the theme for the show was “Witchcraft” and the dresses look unmistakably witchy and moody, but also so gorgeous. With messy hair and bare faces, the look was simultaneously zombie-like and romantic. We’d never considered black for our big day, but after seeing these beauties, we just might. Click through to see all seven.

Gwen Stefani’s children’s line for Target won’t hit stores until November 13, but we just got our hands on the full look book so you can peruse what may be the most unique collection of clothing ever designed for those under the age of four.

Your kids may not understand what Harajuku means, but unless they possess the rare sophistication of Suri Cruise, they will probably love these clothes because they look like what an overstimulated child would pick out if left to his or her own devices. The line, which caters to infants, toddlers and tweens, is halloween costume-meets-ballerina-meets-schoolgirl. While your baby might get some weird looks for wearing a pink/floral/striped tutu with legwarmers or sweatpants with giant bunny ears on the butt, the clothes are, for the most part, practical and appropriate. You won’t find any kiddy lingerie here.

So, click through for all the clothes and accessories that Nicki Minaj is totally wishing came in her size.
