Limited edition makeup and beauty collections for the winter holidays have a long and hallowed tradition in the beauty industry. Who hasn’t picked up a red lipstick or sparkly nail polish for a New Year’s party? But Halloween collections? This is a relatively new–and if you ask us, sorta weird–thing. Not that we’re complaining. (We love Halloween and may or may not have dressed up as Lady Gaga last year.)

We’re not talking makeup for a costume here, though. We’re talking about bath products and makeup that all have a Halloween theme. And seriously…what is cuter than a li’l pumpkin on your vanity (or your nails)? From glow-in-the-dark makeup to spider webs for your nails, click through for some spooky beauty options.

Miss Piggy is poised to make her silver screen comeback this November in the latest (and long overdue) Muppet movie. Some big fashion names are attached to the film, too (in which she plays a Vogue Paris editrix)–Zac Posen and Louboutin made her costumes.

Like any good star plugging a new film, she’s been all over the place lately. She appeared at Opening Ceremony in NYC during Fashion’s Night Out. Last week Lifetime announced she’d be a judge on Project Runway All Stars, and a few days ago there was an unconfirmed rumor sweeping the internet that she was the new face of MAC.

Miss Piggy has always owned her sometimes over-the-top style and her zaftig proportions since she first hit the scene in the mid-1970s. And she looks pretty damn good for a lady who’s been in showbiz for 40 years. (Though it’s fairly obvious that she’s had a nip and tuck here and there).

Miss Piggy loves fashion, and she’s gone through the same bad trends we have. She’s done Farrah Fawcett hair, perms, the Rachel, and even gone brunette.

Click through to see how Miss Piggy’s style has evolved through the years. Just don’t make fun of her–she’s been known to hurl frogs through a window.

Remember when Nicki Minaj sat next to Anna Wintour at the Carolina Herrera show? Well, she was actually flanked by two Condé editors that day. To her right was W editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi and apparently that’s who we should have had our eye on in terms of cover speculation. Read more »

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of meeting Dior‘s creative director of costume jewelry, Camille Miceli. She’s one of those impossibly chic French women who, despite having just gotten off a plane from Paris and spending two hours in customs, appeared absolutely stunning, immaculately put together and full of energy. Not surprisingly, I was most impressed and even a bit distracted by her jewelry, including her three earrings: two matching studs on one ear and one completely different stud on the other. It was so chic.

Interestingly, Camille’s eye for costume jewelry was something she only started to develop a few years ago, while she was working at Louis Vuitton as the head of communications for ready-to-wear. In fact, it was Marc Jacobs, with whom she still has a close relationship, who encouraged her to pursue her creative interests. After helping Jacobs launch Vuitton’s first-ever costume jewelry collection, she jumped ship to Dior in 2009.

After a sneak preview of a clever new animated short that premiered today on NOWNESS, in which the construction of a Mise en Dior costume jewelry necklace is re-imagined as a pinball machine, I chatted with Camille about making the video, changing careers, the differences in working with Marc versus Galliano and all those rumors. Plus, watch the full video below.

Image of the Day #2: Adam Levine Is Missing Half His Torso in Vogue Russia

Friday, Oct 14, 2011 / 3:44 PM

Photo: Vogue Russia

Rock stars and models go together like peas and carrots, which is why Adam Levine of Maroon 5 and model girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna are sharing their love (and nudity) on the November cover of Vogue Russia. Aside from the cover –which has Adam resembling a botoxed-Tom Ford–we noticed something a bit peculiar about one of the photos from their spread. Does anyone know where the rest of Levine’s torso went? Read more »

1. How did Kimberly come up with the idea for “cantaloupe-colored wool,” and does she know that it doesn’t exist for a reason?

2. Joshua, why does showing a range mean that, “everyone should be designing a jacket”? It definitely just meant that the judges didn’t want to see a pile of ball gowns beefed up by yards of nylon tulle.

3. Apparently Kimberly wasn’t interning at a magazine last fall when J.C. Penney gifted every editor her jacket in a more appealing olive green?

4. If Rick Owens designed a collection for H&M wouldn’t he come up with something that looks exactly like Victor’s leather jacket?

Alice Temperley has been making her feminine and gorgeous clothes for ten years now. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, which is quite an accomplishment in the fickle world of fashion, she released a new book last week, called True British: Alice Temperley (Rizzoli New York, 2011). The book includes a foreword from Lucy Yeomans, Editor of Harper’s Bazaar UK, and images from international fashion magazines, Temperley campaigns and events. In addition to all these pretty pictures, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at her fabrics and design process, too.

We were wowed by Temperley’s spring 2012 show in London a few weeks ago (and also admittedly by the fact that Pippa Middleton was sitting front and center at the show) and got to have a chat with the Brit designer via email about her thoughts on London style and London fashion week, those comments she made about New York Fashion Week being too commercial, and Pippa Middleton.

Would You Rather? Kate and Pippa Middleton Plunging Red Gown Edition

Friday, Oct 14, 2011 / 1:30 PM

Kate Middleton stepped out last night with hubby William to attend a charity gala in London wearing a long-sleeved scarlet gown by Beulah London. Pippa Middleton donned that red slinky Temperley number last week for a celebrity boxing match. We know by now that Pippa’s style is a bit flashier than her sister’s but that’s a pretty plunging neckline on Kate’s dress. And they’ve both been wearing a lot of red lately. So trendy! Read more »
