Earlier this week Mischa Barton made headlines for the first time in a loooong while, when she posed with a big old pile of raw meat in a shoot for photographer Tyler Shields. Sounds like classy comeback material, right?

PETA certainly didn’t think so. The animal rights groups issued a statement on TooFab lambasting Shields and Barton for participating in the shoot. “This raw meat stuff is getting old,” they said. “And [it] not only hurts and kills cows, it may hurt Mischa, because so much meat is infected with salmonella, E. coli, and campylobacter that licking it is like licking a toilet.”

Fashion month is a mad whirlwind of collections where we see Anna Wintour literally leap from her seat to continue onto the next show. The jam-packed schedules are cause for a lot of stress for all involved: organizers, editors, buyers, the designers–but especially the models. For models, physical signifiers of work and stress are easily covered on the face with plenty of time in the makeup chair backstage, but there’s one (actually two) key appendages that are sadly over-looked. No, not those. The model’s feet, of course.

With a month of running around four cities, endless nights of fittings, countless show rehearsals and finally–the actual shows–a model’s foot takes one heck of a beating. We’ve already covered the wonderful shoe highlights from this season, but now we will take a look inside the shoe. Warning: If you have foot issues (ie they are too creepy for you to even handle), this slideshow is not for you.

Prada‘s latest Gifts look book just landed on our desks and it has proven to be a gift in and of itself. As always, there’s a nice, pretty selection of small leather goods (wallets, iPad cases, etc.), but what we really want for Christmas is one of these little fellas. They’re called “tricks”–we’re not sure why–but they are certainly tricked out. They’re collectable trinkets to hook on the straps of your Prada bags. Because when you can afford a Prada bag, why not clip a $150 (this is an estimated price) “trick” onto it, right?

All the bears are clad in wild, rockstar-esque outfits including metallic crop tops, sunglasses, crazy hair, guitars and even jewel-encrusted boobs. They all even have names! And I’m pretty sure at least some of them are allusions to famous musicians. For example, Trick Zaza is totally supposed to be Lady Gaga. These little guys are Prada, so they may be pricey, but it’s fashion with a sense of humor–at its best. Click through to check them all out!

Everyone has heard all the statistics about how people in the US and UK are getting larger every year. Add to that an increasingly skinny pool of starlets, models, and It-girls (and street style “stars”) and you suddenly have a very confusing picture about what’s reality. Throw in the vanity sizing that so many brands engage in, and shopping becomes a nightmare, especially if you fall under the “plus size” umbrella.

The Daily Mail reports today that UK plus-size retailer Simply Be opened its first retail stores (they’ve previously just sold their clothes online), and included larger-than-usual dressing rooms, complete with sofas rather than chairs. The whole point, per the retailer, is to provide an environment where larger shoppers don’t feel embarrassed to try on clothes. This news comes on the heels of news last week that UK hair stylist Bashar Brown was opening a salon just for plus size women, who supposedly are too ashamed to go to a regular salon where all the women are “slim and glamorous” (his words).

So Sophia Grace Brownlee, the little British girl who, along with her blond sidekick, impressed all of YouTube land with her rapping of Nicki Minaj‘s “Super Bass” (the video has over seven million views to date), got to meet Nicki Minaj on Ellen. The girls wore their princess dresses and Nicki, being Nicki, wore a half-blue-half-blond wig, a Cia.Marítima bikini top, and a skirt that looked like a bedspread from the ’70s and everyone hugged and screamed and it was amazing. Watch it now.

Steve Jobs’s Turtlenecks Aren’t Even by St. Croix: Here’s a case of mistaken mock-turtleneck identity that really worked out for St. Croix. Turns out the luxury brand, which reported a 100% sales increase following Steve Jobs’s death last week, didn’t actually make the Mac genius’s famed black shirts after all. Jobs revealed to biographer Walter Isaacson that the shirts were created by Japanese designer Issey Miyake, who was asked to create a uniform for Apple employees. Wonder how this news will impact Mr. Miyake’s business? {Styleite via Gawker}

We haven’t seen a lot of Keanu on the big screen lately–but we have thoroughly enjoyed the ‘sad Keanu‘ meme that filled the void (yes, it’s still happening). And now maybe modeling will fill that void, too. (We kid, Keanu has a few projects listed for 2012 on IMDB!) Here he is in a fantastic editorial in Harper’s Bazaar recreating a scene from Taxi Driver with Chloë Moretz as Jodie Foster. The mag nabbed legendary director Martin Scorsese to recast some of his most iconic films. The whole portfolio is worth a click through. Head over to Harper’s Bazaar to see the rest.

Indie mag Oyster relaunches with a bang this month, nabbing It-model Lindsey Wixson for the cover. [Ed. note: We just got word from Oyster that the issue is actually the launch of the mag's first international issue.]

The Oyster crew decamped to Nashville, Tennessee for Oyster’s October/November cover starring Lindsey Wixson, photographed by Will Davidson with creative direction by Stevie Dance. The editorial, titled “Lindsey the Legend,” takes a look at the other side of buzzed-about model Lindsey Wixson. You know, the homegrown American teen, not the gap-toothed vixen you may be used to seeing on Terry’s Diary.

The war on fashion week’s scheduling continues.

After CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg sent out a rather conciliatory open letter earlier this week, saying the whole thing was one big “misunderstanding,” and that she’s “convinced it will be resolved,” Mario Boselli, head of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, has vowed that no compromise will be made when it comes to Milan’s proposed show dates.

“There is nothing more to add or change,” he told WWD. Adding that “we regret things went this way, but…it is not our fault and…we are not responsible for this turn of events.” He might as well have finished his sentence with “Na-na na-na boo-boo.”
