Stella McCartney Dresses Her New Stepmom: Paul McCartney got married to New Yorker Nancy Shevell over the weekend. Stella McCartney designed both Shevell’s dress and her dad’s suit. {People}

Modelland Is Flying Off the Shelves: Tyra Banks debut novel Modelland (yes, the one with a lead character named Tookie de la Crème) has made the New York Times bestseller list. Smize all the way to the bank, Tyra. {The Cut}

Olivier Theyskens Chows Down at MacDo: Natalie Joos did a Tales of Endearment post with Olivier Theyskens and before they thrifted at Clignancourt they dug into some Royales at McDonald’s. Theyskens ate two. With fries. With mayo. They also stopped at a vintage store that had pieces he designed when he was at Rochas. Theyskens couldn’t believe he was already vintage. We’re with you! Especially on the bugers and fries with mayo. {Terms of Endearment}

Stolen Dance Moves: Beyonce is accused of ripping off choreography once again for her latest video for ‘Countdown.’ It’s a pretty convincing case, which is a shame because that video brings me endless happiness. {Gawker}

Yep, you now have to be 18 years old in the state of California to fake bake, Reuters reports. California’s previous law banned the use of tanning beds for teens under the age of 14, but it was OK for 15 to 17-year-olds with a parent’s permission. Other states have varying laws regarding underage tanning, but the highest age limit that’s ever been imposed has been 16.

The AP reports that Illinois, Rhode Island, New York, and Ohio have considered similar laws, so you can expect that other states will start following suit. There’s evidence that the UV exposure you get using tanning beds can lead to malanoma (and rates are increasing in young women), so presumably that was the driving force behind the legislation. After age 18, you’re legal and responsible for your own stupid decisions (I have the tattoos to prove this logic), including whether or not you want to look like an extra from the Jersey Shore.

Critics have mostly been vociferous and rather merciless in skewering Kanye West’s debut collection, though he has found support in the form of Anna dello Russo, who wore one of his dresses, and Carine Roitfeld, who has been fairly gentle with him. He can now add the Independent‘s Susannah Frankel to the short list of supporters.

Frankel argues that we should all give Kanye a chance. In her article she claims that if Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham have been given chances by the industry, then he should get the same consideration. As for his credentials? Sitting front row at shows for many years and doing collabs with Louis Vuitton and Hermés should be plenty of experience for launching your own RTW womenswear line.

Ben Stiller hosted this weekend’s SNL. The obvious fashion news out of Saturday night’s episode would be that Stiller brought Zoolander back (he’s friends with Stefon, obvi), but our preferred fashion segment was the “V-Necks” digital short, in which Andy Samberg and Ben Stiller battle wearing extreme v-neck tees. First there’s the “double deep v” from the “out of bounds collection.” Then there’s the “double v” (pronounced doub-leh veh) that looks more like a “w” so that nipples are exposed and ready to be tweaked, the “negative” (so it looks like you’re just wearing a bandana), and then the one that cups your junk (that’ll get you arrested).

But being fashion nerds, we thought the funniest part was that the whole skit was filmed in a Rag & Bone. Imagining Marcus Wainwright and David Neville designing ball-cupping jersey tees is almost as funny as Stiller and Samberg wearing them.

There’s no denying it–Gap has faced tough times this past year. They fired Patrick Robinson, the creative director and face of the brand (and still haven’t named a successor), there was that whole logo change fiasco, and shares fell 15.5% based on reports in WWD this past May.

Gap’s 1969 denim line has been the bright spot–their colored and animal print jeans are seriously awesome (really go get some, they’re only $70 bucks and I can personally vouch for the light blue leopard print ones). And their spring collection, which we previewed during New York fashion week, looks promising; we loved the perfectly tweaked basics, shoes, and color blocked dresses. But, still, Gap could use a boost, something to revitalize the brand. Something like a really really good collaboration. One with someone like Isabel Marant.

The Spring 2013 show season clusterf*ck continues. The CFDA and the BFC reacted immediately after the news came down from Milan’s Camera Nazionale della Moda on Friday that it would show its members’ spring 2013 collections September 19-25, essentially eating into two of New York’s planned days and completely eclipsing London‘s whole five-day schedule.

Diane von Furstenberg, the president of the CFDA, sent out an open letter to the fashion community yesterday. She was rather conciliatory in it, stating that the show date hoopla was a “misunderstanding” and that she was “convinced it will be resolved.” But don’t think she’s going down without a fight. She also told WWD:

Kendall is a former fashion editor who has written for NYmag.com, Lucky, InStyle, and NBC. She recently scrapped that glamorous life and is pursuing an MBA at MIT Sloan, in hopes of becoming an entrepreneur.

Hey guys! Business Casual is back! This time, I’ve got tips for applications and, by commenter Shyema A’s request, ideas for financing your MBA, too.

Let’s imagine you’ve just finished the GMAT, pressed enter and—voila!—your score pops up instantly. You’re either elated or deflated. Being the-Céline-shopper-is-half-full-types, we’ll assume it’s the former. You head home and over the next few days, catch up with friends you missed during your sad GMAT studying and soak up some Bravo marathons. Life, it seems, returns to normal. (Insert the sound of the other Theyskens’ Theory wedge dropping).
