Woops. Looks like Missoni for Target has an even bigger customer service problem on their hands than we thought.

The Hairpin‘s Jean Marie posted this picture of a gift card she recently received in the mail saying, “Look at what came in the mail yesterday. This is the entirety of the note: ‘Regarding your Missoni for Target order.’ And then at the bottom it says the card is worth $25. That’s it! That is all the info. I might cry. Should I cry?”

Natalie Portman as the Black Swan is poised to be a popular Halloween costume this weekend, especially among fashionistas. The costume is dark and edgy and slutty without being obviously slutty. It’s perfect!

But Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who designed Portman’s ballet costumes for the hit film will not be going as Black Swan. Not that we could ever picture the Mulleavys, who dress very simply, in black sequined tutus, but still, now we know for sure. PHEW. WWD caught up with the sisters at FGI’s Night of Stars (they were honored as “luminaries”) and asked if they were dressing up for Halloween. “I don’t know as what yet, which is kind of the conundrum,” Laura said. “Someone asked me the other day, ‘Are you dressing up as Black Swan?’ And I was like, “No, but I know how you can get one because they sell [the costumes] now.” Kate said she doesn’t have a costume yet. So, now you know.

Here are our suggestions for the Rodarte girls:

For the first time in two years, V magazine is featuring actual models instead of celebrities on its next edition, which hits newsstands on November 8. And to show that it is really, really standing by its decision to eschew celebs in favor of models, the mag shot not one, but four covers, featuring a pair of pretty girls on each cover. Read more »

Of the three Beyoncé music videos that have come out this month, “Party” may be our favorite, sartorially (On all other fronts, however, it doesn’t match up to “Countdown“). As we’ve come to expect, there is a concept. Basically, the whole video takes place in a trailer park and the look of Beyoncé and her trailer park girlfriends is unmistakably trashy and over-the-top and we kind of like it. Tom Ford would probably love the excessive makeup and we were surprised to find that we genuinely like some of the clothes. The cut-out dresses, crop tops, Solange’s American flag shorts are all things you might see at, say, a Fourth of July party in Williamsburg. At the very least, they are fun to look at. Read more »

Ah, Halloween… A night when college students, professionals, and celebrities can all dress like cheap hookers in public with little or no repercussions. It used to be that you had to wait, longingly, until you were a teenager to get all skankified. When I was little, my mom always forced me to weather-proof my Halloween costumes because it was “going to be really cold out.” (I must add that I was still the coolest Princess Jasmine ever with a beige turtleneck under my turquoise crop top.)

But based on the costumes available to pre-adolescents today, times have seriously changed. Apparently, frost-bite is no longer a concern! Neither is looking like a child prostitute. A quick peruse through the myriad of specialty costume sites was enough to educate me on how the elementary and middle school set is now expected to celebrate Halloween. Some noteworthy info: No little girl’s costume is complete without a microscopic tutu. Fishnets are perfectly appropriate children’s wear and not at all suggestive. And female fire fighters wear shiny go-go boots.

So without further ado, here’s a list of some stand-out, pedo-friendly costumes for you to look out for in your neighborhood this October 31. If you thought those Pretty Woman and Dolly Parton outfits on Toddlers & Tiaras were appropriate and adorable, just wait until you’ve seen “Pretty Lil’ Kitty” and “Tween Kimono Cutie Geisha”! You just wait.

1. Why is this show all of a sudden so concerned with branding girls who aren’t actual models yet? No one wants a perfume made by someone who was almost a Top Model.

2. How does Allison still manage to come off as an adorable little doll even after naming her perfume “Honey Blood”?

3. Is that Eva, the ex-Top Model, or Eve, the rapper?

4. Is Lisa drunk?

5. Is anyone else a little turned on by Nigel frolicking in a bathtub yelling “I’m smitten”?

Last night, we stopped by Macy’s Herald Square to celebrate the launch of Giambattista Valli for Macy’s, the latest in the department store’s string of high-profile designer collaborations. Yes, the ultra-feminine, cocktail dress-filled collection is now available to buy in stores and online.

The launch event in Macy’s Impulse section was quite a scene. It began with a brief speech from Macy’s President and CEO Terry Lundgren followed by a photo op with Giambattista himself, flanked by Giambattista for Macy’s-clad models Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman and Hanaa Ben Abdesslem. All of this was surrounded by curious cluster of Macy’s shoppers wondering what was going on.

It’s been a big year for Giambattista, having launched this Macy’s collab as well as his first ever couture collection within a few months of each other.

It’s that time of year when the thought of wrapping up in some colorful cashmere is starting to sound pretty inviting. Before you spring for just any old cashmere, you should hear about Frenchman Eric Bompard and the Capra Hisca goats.

Eric Bompard’s passion for cashmere dates back to the 1980s. On the high plateaus of the Gobi desert in Mongolia, at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, he discovered a small goat with long, soft hair that protected it from the freezing temperatures: the Capra Hisca. And thus a cashmere business was born.

This season Bompard tagged Italian actress Monica Bellucci to star in the winter campaign. And you really couldn’t ask for a better muse to wear figure-hugging cashmere than the curvy Bellucci. Shot in styles from clingy ribbed dresses to loose cable knits, she’ll inspire you to engage in some sweater dressing.

Bompard cashmere comes in varying levels of thickness, as well as different patterns, ranging from open weave geometry to an intarsia-like motif. Check out the styles available here. Cozy and chic? Our favorite combination.
