From topless American Apparel model to Woody Allen muse and now Prada campaign face, Léa Seydoux’s star is certainly on the rise. Prada is loving the 25-year-old French actress, having booked her as the face of their latest fragrance, Candy, and now she’s starring in the brand’s resort campaign, shot by Steven Meisel. Seydoux was charmingly goofy in the commercial for Prada Candy, dancing and screaming up a storm, flashing her pink panties with joyful abandon, but for Prada’s new resort campaign she’s much more solemn. Perhaps that’s because she’s focusing not dropping any of those clutches (she even manages to hold on to a mass of adorable Prada tricks).

Diving for McQueen on Nowness.com.

A rare bit of advice for aspiring fashion journos from New York Times‘ fashion critic Cathy Horyn: Bone up on your reporting skills and stop fretting about getting into the shows.

In this video for Nowness, created by Dustin Lynn, we get a rare glimpse at Horyn studio visit, this one at Alexander McQueen’s Paris atelier with creative director Sarah Burton. The two industry heavies have a candid and fascinating chat about the industry, which they agree, is changing and not necessarily in a good way.

Designer collaborations with H&M are commonplace and even expected now. But collections based on fictional characters? Not so much, until now. Lisbeth Salander, the edgy, troubled, goth protagonist in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has inspired a new capsule collection, WWD is reporting.

Trish Summerville, the costume designer for the US movie version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (she also outfitted the Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt, Ricky Martin and Janet Jackson on their tours), designed the 30-piece collection, which will be a part of the Swedish retailer’s Divided line. For H&M, the collection was a no-brainer.

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend and the phrase couldn’t have felt more true last night as we headed over to the recently-opened Hotel Americano in far west Chelsea to gawk over the new Trinity de Cartier collection. As we walked into the basement El Privado lounge, we were nearly blinded by dazzling diamonds covering numerous variations on the iconic triple ring design. From the sexy and modern white gold, palladium and black ceramic versions that hit the boutiques this week (the “basic” non-blinged-out piece runs roughly $1500) to the hypnotically mind-blowing diamond-encrusted cuff bracelet that would set you back a cool $600,000.

Cartier director of image, style and heritage Pierre Rainero was on hand to guide wide-eyed attendees through the impressive collection. The house of Cartier created the original Trinity ring back in 1924, so how does the team find the inspiration to keep things fresh?

If the runways have proven anything these past few years it’s that everything–and we mean everything–comes back in style.

We’ve already seen nineties fashions mined pretty hard (grunge, minimalism, overalls), so it’s only a matter of time until some of the fashion staples of the early aughties that, shall we say are less than “chic,” start cropping up again on the runways.

We know it sounds almost too terrible to believe that Ugg boots and Juicy sweatsuits could be in style again, but trust us: This is a reality we must face. So, to get ourselves re-acquainted with these old classics–a preemptive inoculation, you could say–we’ve rounded up the most likely styles to make a comeback, and how they’ll be reinterpreted today.

LOS ANGELES–When women get behind the camera, they’re a force to be reckoned with–armed with voices to be heard and stories to tell. Over the last few years, the brazen ladies over at Glamour have championed a cause called “Reel Moments” to not only inspire more stories about women on the big screen, but to also push our favorite leading ladies (Demi Moore and Jennifer Aniston have been past participants) to take hold of the director’s chair and steer their cinematic talents behind the camera for a change.

On Monday afternoon, Glamour and Clarisonic hosted a ladies luncheon at the Soho House in LA to allow this year’s Reel Moments directors Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria and Olivia Wilde to chat about their directorial debuts. They confessed to everything from a need to please to the shock/pleasure of not having to sit through hair and makeup.

“I’m naturally bossy, so I felt right at home. We had to move fast and think on our feet—which comes quite naturally as a woman–but trust me, I was afraid of disappointing,” Eva Longoria said.

Every year teens from across the globe flock to Teen Vogue‘s annual Fashion University in hopes of rubbing elbows with fashion’s elite and networking to score that dream internship. Online Italian fashion and lifestyles mag Luuk Magazine just posted images from the spring campaign for Brazilian label Auslander (It’s spring in Brazil remember–lucky Brazilians). In the images, you’ll see Andrej Pejic looking flirty and Zombie Boy looking generally broody, which is sort of his default look. Our friends at Made in Brazil tell us that the two walked in the Auslander spring show (pic in gallery below) at Fashion Rio back in June, so this is a continuation of that pairing. Read more »

According to this Mediabistro job posting, Scott Schuman of The Satorialist and Garance Dore are looking to expand. And fast. The duo is shopping around for a Digital Ad Sales Director and Trafficker to start immediately.

The new employee will be expected to “oversee the digital ad strategy of the two properties…manage current accounts, generate new business, work to develop new ad solutions, and also be capable of handling the trafficking/tech side.” The individual must have “3+ years of digital sales experience” and be “outgoing and self motivated, with a positive attitude.” (Though we’d like to add a that a potential candidate better have a sense of “integrity” to the list as well.)

The salary is “competitive,” and considering that Schuman said he made between a quarter and half a million dollars off of just two ad accounts alone, we’re guessing (hoping?) the new person will be compensated more than fairly.
