The latest news in the ongoing spring 2013 fashion week scheduling conflict between the fashion capitals comes from Milan’s Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, who have been the main instigators in this whole fiasco.
To recap: Milan consciously set their September 2012 fashion week schedule to overlap with New York and London because Labor Day forced New York to push the fashion weeks back a bit and Milan wasn’t down with that. Despite Vogue editors threatening to skip Milan and the CFDA’s attempts to reason with them, Milan stood their ground. A couple of weeks ago, the CFDA, with whom London has been in cahoots from the beginning, issued a proposal agreeing to move their dates back a week on the condition that Milan and Paris agree to the second-Thursday rule for the long term.

In just a few years, Linda Farrow has become one of the coolest names in designer sunnies. The Linda Farrow label has been around since 1970, but has been rejuvenated in recent years thanks to an expanding roster of ongoing collaborations with designers we love, like Matthew Williamson, Dries van Noten, Alexander Wang, The Row and most recently Prabal Gurung and Oscar de la Renta.
At a recent press preview for the spring 2012 Linda Farrow collections, we caught up with Tracy Sedino, who, along with Linda Farrow’s son Simon Jablon, revived the brand in 2004, when they began licensing deals.

The December/January edition of Vogue Paris has finally arrived, David Bowie-style. Editor Emmanuelle Alt has broken the mold of the typically guest-edited issue (remember the hubbub over Tom Ford’s last year? It was rumored to be one of the reasons for Carine Roitfeld’s exit from the magazine) but Alt has taken a different route, deeming it the Music issue instead. Not everything here is unfamiliar, though. Read more »

Chanel Iman turns 21 tomorrow and the model is ringing in legal drinking age like any regular young adult: By renting a private island off the shore of Jamaica, naturally. Sigh, my 21-year-old self is dying of jealousy.
On set at a Victoria’s Secret PINK shoot in Miami, Chanel couldn’t help but gush about her big birthday plans.

One doesn’t need to be model-obsessed to notice the trajectory of Karlie Kloss’ career since she jumped onto the scene as a Calvin Klein runway exclusive back in September of 2007. From that first moment on the catwalk with her signature head-swivel strut, Kloss has gone on to book the best gigs in the biz. Her resume includes acting as the face of Dior, Oscar de la Renta and Donna Karan, regular stints in the pages of Vogue US, runway ubiquity (including her first appearance in last night’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show), and top magazine covers. And you simply cannot be a top model without those covers, which is why we’ve decided to take a look back at Karlie as a cover girl. You may have noticed Karlie gracing the front of Vogue Italia’s December issue (with the familiar sexy turn her career has been taking lately) with the words “Extra Strength” emblazoned on the bottom. Well, we cannot think of a more apropos phrase seeing that Karlie does not seem to be slowing down at all.
Click through to see Karlie kover (too much?) highlights throughout her stellar career so far.

Ali Lohan Will Cover Page Six Mag: Ali – excuse me – Aliana Lohan, who will cover Page Six Mag in the NY Post tomorrow, says she and big sis Lindsay “talk to each other about everything.” Do I smell a future tell-all memoir in the works?? {NY Post}
Marks & Spencer Lingerie Ad Banned in UK: The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) has banned yet another racy ad, this time for M&S lingerie. Isn’t this the same country that managed to change the focus of April’s Royal Wedding from the bride and groom to the maid of honor’s ass? IDGI. {Telegraph}
Elizabeth Olsen Doesn’t Have Any Holiday Traditions: Elizabeth Olsen says that her family doesn’t have any holiday traditions. Are we really supposed to believe the Olsens don’t gather ’round the fire with some kettle corn for an annual viewing of To Grandmother’s House We Go? Sorry Liz, I’m not buying it. {FabSugar}
Read more »Might Tavi Gevinson be adding ‘musician’ to her growing list of professions? A few months ago, she recorded a video of herself covering Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” in goth makeup, which came across as a joke or some kind of satire, but her latest performance doesn’t have the same feeling of irony.
In this video, which she posted on Hello Giggles yesterday, she sings “Case of You” by Joni Mitchell and even plays the guitar. She dedicates the performance to Mindy Kaling “because she mentioned the album this is on, Blue, a number of times in her book, which I LOVED, and wanted to thank her for birthing into this world,” she writes. The video also gives you about four minutes to stare at her bedroom and extensive headband collection. Read more »
If tales from the modeling industry today leave you horrified, then prepare yourself for Carré Otis’s account of what it was like to work in the biz during the 80s and 90s.
Otis’ forthcoming memoir Beauty, Disrupted explores the model’s journey from anorexic, drug-addled teen to recovered mother of two–and the revelations don’t exactly reflect kindly on the modeling industry.
For one, according to an interview Otis gave to addiction and recovery site The Fix, it was her modeling agent Gerald Marie of Elite that first introduced the young model to cocaine as a means to control her weight. Otis says of the industry at the time:
