Beauty Trendspotting: Forties-Inspired Victory Rolls
By Dana KruspeMiu Miu’s fall collection was a time warp into 40s fashion where every model was topped with a few victory rolls (unrelated: how great is the term “victory roll”?). The sleek hairstyle moved from the runway (also seen at Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest spring show) to magazine pages with ease. With Miu Miu’s editorial popularity these past few months, it’s natural that the hairstyle has followed suit. But it wasn’t until we spotted Katy Perry (a star known for her pin-up-inspired looks) and Madonna sporting the coiffure on the red carpet did we realize how popular the victory roll has become. Is this a trend best left to the professionals, or will you be wielding your bobby pins to try it out for yourself?
