Joseph Altuzarra has been named this year’s winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Altuzarra, an industry darling since he burst onto the scene in 2009, will take home $300,000 to put towards growing his business. Altuzarra was nominated for the award last year, and was nominated for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear in 2010 and 2011.
New York-based Jewelry designer Pamela Love and relative newcomers from Chicago, Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind (one of our personal faves–congrats guys!), were named runners up. They’ll each receive $100,000 to put towards their businesses. All three winners will also receive mentorship from the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s impressive Business Advisory Committee.
The 10 finalists selected for this year’s CVFF were: A.A’s Antonio Azzuolo, Joseph Altuzarra, Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind, Soraya Silchenstedt of Finn Jewelry, Dana Lorenz of Fenton/Fallon, Alexa Adams and Flora Gill of Ohne Titel, Pamela Love, and Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno. Lazara Hernandez and Jack McCullough of Proenza Schouler, Vogue’s Mark Holgate, Nordstrom’s Jeffrey Kalinsky, Reed Krakoff, Jenna Lyons, Andrew Rosen, Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Wintour made up the selection committee.
The awards, now in their eighth year, were presented at Skylight Soho to a crowd of fashion industry insiders, designers, and models that included CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Wintour, keynote speaker Calvin Klein, presenter Rooney Mara, past winners Billy Reid and Alexander Wang and more. Celebs were there to support the industry too, like Joe Jonas, Chloe Moretz, and Olivia Wilde.
Congrats again to the well-deserving winners!
