A muse to Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy (and me), Elle Fanning is seen here in a shot from the latest issue of A Magazine, which the Mulleavys guest-curated. Bill Owens photographed Fanning for an editorial inspired by Kate and Laura's experience growing up in California, a theme they've been really into lately. They posted this wonderful image of Fanning in a teal dress from their one-off Pitti W collection on their Facebook page today with the following message:

"As part of our guest curation of A Magazine, we asked Bill Owens and Elle Fanning to collaborate on a special series of photographs involving our SS2012 Couture Collection as seen through memories of our childhood growing up in Santa Cruz, California. It is the first editorial of the collection which was shown in Florence this past June and is now a part of the LACMA Los Angeles County Museum of Art's permanent collection. It was an honor to work with Bill Owens, whose work we admire greatly."

A Magazine only comes out once per year and has previously boasted such guest curators as Giambattista Valli, Proenza Schouler and Riccardo Tisci. The Mulleavys once curated an issue of Lula, which also featured an Elle Fanning spread. Clearly, the Mulleavys and Elle Fanning are match made in fashion heaven and we are so pleased to see their relationship blossoming.

According to Style.com, A Magazine hits newstands in mid-December and will also feature contributions from Jay DeFeo, artist John Baldessari and Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon (no Tavi?). Click through to see the cover and a shot of Kirsten Dunst by David Armstrong in Rodarte Fall '11.
