For Their 20th Anniversary, Dazed & Confused Let Old Cover Stars (Like Kate Moss and Pharrell) Pick New Ones
By Hayley PhelanDazed & Confused has just released four of the 20 covers they’ll be putting out for its 20th anniversary edition and, unsurprisingly, they are awesome.
Shot by the mag’s co-founder and photographer Rankin, each cover features new portraits of iconic past cover stars and, on the gatefold pull out, a rising star nominated by the cover star. In other words, it’s like two covers for the price of one!
Making the cut in this first batch are icons Kate Moss, Pharrell Williams, Eva Green and Chloe Sevigny who chose rising stars Josephine de la Baume, Maxine Ashley, Jordan Scott, and Lizzi Bougatsos, respectively. But that’s not all: We have yet-to-be-released Tilda Swinton, Alicia Keys and Jarvis Cocker covers to look forward to (we’re especially looking forward to Tilda’s!)
We give Dazed kudos for being ballsy enough to put up-and-comers–some of whom we’ve never even heard of–on the covers of such an important issue and for cleverly pairing them with A-list stars.
Check out four of the 20 covers below. What do you think of them?
