Is this cold and rain making you feel a little bah-humbug-y for the holidays? I know, us too. And, trust us, the last thing we wanted to do is squeeze ourselves into a dress and expose our limbs to even more freezing cold temperatures. That is, until now. Enter: Madewell‘s Fete-Setter. Hot off the presses from their Holiday 2011 catalogue, it’s an adorably styled shoot featuring their most holiday party-perfect frocks. The whole spread totally makes us want to swap our winter boots for some dancing shoes, and start celebrating! We’re especially enamored with the velvet trousers, which are an unexpected twist on classic party style.

Are you a small-footed gal who has a hard time finding shoes in your size that you actually like? If so, look no further than The Odd Slipper. While I, like almost everyone, am a standard size 7½ (which has its own disadvantages), it makes total sense that those with more modest feet would want options other than the kid’s section.

The site launched recently as a resource for gals who wear size 3-5½ shoe. However, it’s more than just an ecommerce site. Each week, they unveil a new shoe style, which users can vote and give feedback on. They then manufacture the best reviewed styles with the highest amount of votes and let shoppers know which styles have been picked and when they’ll be ready for sale. The advantages of this business model are that there is little risk (shoppers are getting what they want) and costs are kept at a minimum since they coordinate manufacturing directly.

The site is doing well and they hope to expand to offer even more options for petite ladies. We chatted with founder Sindy Sagastume about how the site came about, how it works and what’s next!

Sofia Coppola‘s 24-year-old niece (and Francis Ford Coppola’s granddaughter) Gia may be next in line to achieve fashion it girl status. Most recently, Whetherly’s spring 2012 look book, in which Gia stars, just landed in our inbox, and it proves that in addition to directing cute fashion films, taking photos, acting and being enviably well-dressed all the time, she can model.

Her fashion directorial debut was a short film for Zac Posen’s Target collaboration two years ago starring girl group The Like. Posen once said, “She’s going to be the next Coppola force to be reckoned with.” And he is probably right. She has since directed two films for Opening Ceremony, one of which starred Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman; Orla Kiely’s Spring 2011 short film and Wren’s Spring 2012 short film. They all have a feminine, youthful California vibe with Sofia-esque themes and a timelessness that is pretty unique. You can check them all out here. She also told WSJ that she wants to do more narrative films and plans to direct a screen adaptation of James Franco’s Palo Alto stories.

Wanna get someone a fabulous gift that’s designer without breaking the bank? You totally can. In fact, a lot of designer labels cater to people like us who want to be fancy but for whom the Miu Miu shoes and Alaïa dresses we really want are far out of reach.

These aren’t knock-offs or collaborations or makeup, but real designer items that we would actually be very happy to find under the tree or in a stocking. Now if someone could tell us where to put stockings when you don’t have a fireplace, that would be great.

From Prada to Alexander Wang to Alaïa (seriously!), here are the 14 best little designer gifts that less than $300 can buy!

Forget about Nars’ “Orgasm” blush to give you a nice glow–go for the real thing instead. “Adult novelty toy” company The Screaming O (which has won a jillion awards for its product of the same name, a vibrating ring) has created a new line of lady pleasure devices that look exactly like the beauty products that you probably have stuffed into your makeup bag. Remember how that Feministe blogger had her luggage inspected (not a euphemism!) by the TSA, who left her the note “Get your freak on girl” after they discovered a “personal item” she had packed? Who needs to worry about that sort of thing? Enter Screaming O and its line of beauty product-disguised vibrators with a fashion-y theme. Tagline: “Come in Style!”

Aritzia Spring 2012

Canadian retailer Aritizia has been at its new home in Soho for about five months now and seems to be doing well, putting out cute, affordable, current clothes with consistency. The brand’s spring 2012 collection was unveiled yesterday and it doesn’t disappoint.

The collection is full of cute, easy, wearable pieces that are on trend but not obnoxiously so. In fact, there are a lot of chic, simple classic pieces like button-downs, blazers, simple trousers and a great trench that, given the retailer’s focus on quality, will likely stand the test of a decent amount of time. There are also tons of pretty, feminine dresses in pastels and washed out colors as well as ethereal fabrics like silk georgette, crepe de chine, organza and silk charmeuse. Rich Tong

Looks like Tumblr may soon be looking for a new Fashion Director.

According to Betabeat, Rich Tong, who currently holds that position, is leaving the company. Apparently, the position called for more of an “abassador”-esque role, while Tong saw himself more in “an ‘entrepreneurial’ light”–or, if Betabeat’s sources are to be believed, someone who is sort of unaccountable. “[Tong]‘s been out of the office for much of the last three weeks,” Betabeat reported. “And [his] diminishing presence has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the staff.”
