We all know what happened recently with Missoni for Target–that collection disappeared instantly, online shoppers got $25 consolation gift cards instead of cute zigzagged coffee cups, and items showed up on eBay for exorbitant prices.

H&M has always tried to prevent this type of run on its collaborations by laying down rules in advance and allowing very controlled access to the collections. (It also helps that they don’t have e-commerce. You have to be really committed to get out of your warm bed to stand in line at 4am). The Versace for H&M collection goes on sale November 17 in London (it will be available November 19 stateside), and the Telegraph is reporting on H&M’s rules for engagement. If you think you can waltz in and grab five of those pink silk dresses, think again.

Dazed & Confused has just released four of the 20 covers they’ll be putting out for its 20th anniversary edition and, unsurprisingly, they are awesome.

Shot by the mag’s co-founder and photographer Rankin, each cover features new portraits of iconic past cover stars and, on the gatefold pull out, a rising star nominated by the cover star. In other words, it’s like two covers for the price of one! Read more »

“Franca Sozzani once said something about John Galliano that I thought was perfect. She said that ‘Dior’s solution and salvation would be to bring back that man,’–and I agree. Of course he would never do that after being so badly treated. What he said was horrific, but said under the influence of drugs and alcohol–that is no reason to destroy talent.”

Manolo Blahnik to Vogue UK, about the possibility of Galliano returning to Dior. Read more »

As we reported last week, sisters of the moment Elle and Dakota Fanning are W‘s December cover girls. Along with a less blurry image of the gorgeous, ethereal cover, we now have the full spread styled by Lori Goldstein and shot by Mario Sorrenti. There’s also a lovely interview by Lynn Hirschberg–two separate ones in fact–in which the girls dish about borrowing each other’s clothes, working at such a young age and how fashion-obsessed Elle reacted to being invited to the Chanel couture show.

Click through for the best bits from the interview and to see the “fabulous Fannings” wearing Chanel couture and looking super pretty in the editorial.

Big changes are afoot at Jimmy Choo. The company is celebrating a milestone 15th anniversary this year–but in a surprising turn of events, Choo co-founder and chief creative officer Tamara Mellon–who was also the face of the brand–is leaving the company.

Mellon isn’t the only one leaving, either. Joshua Shulman, the CEO, has also resigned, WWD is reporting. This all comes in the wake of the footwear company’s acquisition by Labelux last May.

Jessica Stam for Covergirl

Considering that Pat McGrath is the originator of a lot of runway makeup trends, you definitely sit up and listen when she decides to talk about those trends. (She was responsible for the looks at Givenchy, Prada, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton, and Balenciaga this past season, to name just a few.) On Friday afternoon, CoverGirl held an event featuring Pat McGrath (CoverGirl’s Global Creative Design Director) and the brand’s new face, model Jessica Stam, who was perfection in a lace dress and a full-on face of glamorous makeup. The purpose of the gathering? To discuss the beauty trends from the recent spring 2012 runways and how mere mortals can recreate these looks and make them work for real life.

Here are ten tips we picked up, from Pat’s secret for perfect brows, to how to do a metallic lip:

Pre-order that Givenchy diaper bag because Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is three months pregnant, Page Six is reporting (Roitfeld apparently announced the news on Facebook). And just in case you’re wondering what three months pregnant looks like, that’s a photo of Julia at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show a couple of nights ago in a tight black dress looking better than ever.

This is the first child for Julia and her male-model beau, Robert Konjic, and the first grandchild for Carine Roitfeld.
