According to Curbed, J.Crew Pres Jenna Lyons‘ Brooklyn townhouse–the subject of many a jealousy-inducing editorial–is up for sale following reports of her divorce and team-switching. Wait, do we hear something? It sounds like the hearts of millions of interior designers breaking…

According to Sotheby’s, the four-story townhouse has seven bedrooms, three and a half baths and is “impeccably renovated to perfection.” They forgot to mention that it’s earned a spot in the hearts of New York’s fashion industry peeps as the Platonic ideal of an utterly stylish home in the city.

So in honor of Lyons’ soon-to-be-sold Park Slope home, we remember the townhouse’s finest moments, culled from Living Etc. as well as that Domino shoot everyone ripped out and drooled over. Check out all the images below.

Jenn Hyman is the CEO and co-founder of Rent the Runway. Before that she went to Harvard Business School (and Harvard for undergrad too, NBD). She’s writing a column for us that we’re calling Fashionpreneur. In it she’ll dole out advice and lessons learned on everything from raising funds, branding yourself, sales and generally managing a business. She’s also taking your questions.

A few months ago I read a post from Ben Lerer, the CEO of Thrillist that fundamentally changed how I interview. If you’re too lazy to read it, here’s a summary: when Ben started his now very successful company, he was too easy on candidates and hired anyone who showed enthusiasm for Thrillist. As a young leader, Ben lacked confidence for why someone would want to risk it all and work for him. Since then, he’s done a 180 and looks for people who are willing to sacrifice to be on his team.

As CEO and co-founder of Rent the Runway, I often find myself in the position of interviewer, and it is a role I take very seriously. I never imagined two years ago when starting Rent the Runway that the vast majority of my time would be spent on recruiting talent, inspiring and coaching our team and creating a culture that our team is proud of.

The sisters Fanning continue to grow their fashion world presence with back-to-back shoots by Terry Richardson, which the photog posted on his blog yesterday and today. As is custom for those invited into Richardson’s studio, both teenaged blonde sisters slapped on Terry’s specs and gave two thumbs up in an attempt to resemble the middle-aged photog.

Yikes. The Versace for H&M frenzy has just begun, with the runway show and party featuring performances by Prince and Nicki Minaj set for tonight, but we just received a tip that an online Chinese retailer is already selling the full collection.

Every piece is available for sale at an online mall called Germany Street (it’s similar to a site like Amazon and sells ‘European styles’ hence the Germany connection) and the price conversions from Yuan to dollars suggest that the collection will be a bit steeper in China. The dress Abbey Lee is wearing below will retail for $149 when it is sold at H&Ms in the US in a week and a half, while the price on Taobao.com is 1470 Yuan (about $231).

We’re Giving Away Five Sets of d.j.v Mascaras!

Tuesday, Nov 8, 2011 / 2:29 PM

The d.j.v. Beautenizer mascaras are major beauty editor faves, and we have five pairs to give away!

You’ll get these two:
d.j.v. Beautenizer Volume Lash, a mascara that separates, conditions, and adds volume to lashes. This innovative film-coating formula encapsulates each lash within a smooth and non-clumping film. Ingredients include conditioning oils with botanical essences and panthenol for added strengthening and moisturizing. Better yet, the smudge-proof formula can be easily removed with warm water.

d.j.v. Beautenizer Fiberwig LX, a false lash formula that’s applied like mascara and encapsulates lashes within a fiber-rich film. This glossy, black formula contains double the fibers to lengthen lashes. As the formula goes on smoothly without clumping, it gives the appearance of naturally longer lashes and forms a film coating that prevents smudging caused by oils and perspiration. The active ingredients consist of several natural botanical essences, a silky fiber ingredient, and panthenol to help nourish and strengthen lashes. It’s easy to remove with warm water, which loosens the film and allows the formula to slide off easily. Therefore, no rubbing is needed, leaving your natural lashes unharmed.

You can enter here starting Tuesday, November 8. Hurry, because you only have a week! The giveaway ends Tuesday, November 15 at noon EST. Good luck!

Nicole Richie Named “Influencer of the Year”: ‘Tis a rare thing to see a celebrity accessories line truly produce anything worthy of note, but Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 is certainly an exception. The Accessories Council has honored her with the “Influencer of the Year” award, for consistently producing unique pieces we actually want to wear. {The Fashion Spot}

In case you didn’t get enough of Lady Gaga over the last few days with all the coverage of her enormous three dimensional Paco Rabanne outfits at the MTV Europe Music Awards, don’t despair. There’s lots more Lady Gaga news today.

First up, that fragrance of hers. You know–the one that supposedly will smell like “blood and semen”? Well, it reportedly has a name now, though WWD couldn’t confirm it with Coty Beauty, who’s producing the scent.

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is set to air November 29 (and is being shot tomorrow) and as we’ve come to expect, will be an expensive display of wings, supermodels, performances and more.

According to WWD, preparations for the event are a year-long affair. Every detail is thought out from costume inspiration (“global cultures and vintage films to Impressionist painters and looks on the ready-to-wear runways in Paris, Milan and New York”), musical guests (Kanye West, Maroon 5 and Cee Lo Green or Nicki Minaj?), model casting and, of course, designing the costumes themselves. The costumes are handcrafted by artisans under the guidance of the show’s lead creators Todd Thomas and Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou.

Click through for what all of this has come down to by the numbers, including the number of these handcrafted costumes, record number of new models, the budget for the show and more:

Last night we headed over to Carnegie Hall for a night of inspiration, heart-warming speeches and, most importantly, girl power. For those of you who don’t know, we are of course talking about Glamour‘s Women of the Year awards.

The annual event, which honors extraordinary women, this year doled out awards to the year’s standout stars–from the most talked about songstresses like Lea Michele and J.Lo to the visionaries who truly changed the world, such as Egypt’s “Facebook Girl” and Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington, as well as legends like feminist Gloria Steinem.

While the there were too many wise words to count (Arianna Huffington reminding us that “failure is just a stepping stone to success,” Gloria Steinem assuring us that there is life after 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, “life is just one big surprise”) we’ve managed to at least narrow down the night’s best dressed. Though with ladies as remarkable as these, that too was a challenge. Click through to see the best dressed from the night.

It’s less than two weeks until the Versace for H&M collection hits stores on November 19, but the party to introduce the collection officially kicks off tonight. Donatella Versace is here in New York prepping for tonight’s epic runway show and party, and WWD caught up with the designer to talk about the collection and what we can expect from tonight’s Prince and Nicki Minaj and celeb-filled spectacular.

Versace for H&M hype may be reaching fever pitch now, but the collab almost didn’t happen.

After lots and lots of teasing, Duran Duran’s nearly 10 minute long music video for ‘Girl Panic,’ starring OG ’90s supes Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon (frontman Simon’s wife) has finally been released in full. And it was worth the wait.

The incredibly long video is a worthy successor to George Michael’s “Freedom” (though sadly lacking Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Tatjana Patitz). Read more »
