Rihanna for Emporio Armani

It was only a matter of time right? Like any good fashionable pop star (Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Lopez, etc.,) Rihanna is designing a clothing line.

She’s teamed up with Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans on a small capsule collection, which will hit stores worldwide mid-November, Elle UK is reporting.

Karl Lagerfeld’s growing list of projects is starting to confuse us, especially the many new ones that bear his name, but apparently that’s how you make money. 2012 retail revenues for the brand are expected at over 80 million euros, or $108.2 million at current exchange, according to WWD–and that’s just from his menswear line, Lagerfeld, which doesn’t have much of a presence in the U.S.

F.D. Fashion, the German company that owns the Karl Lagerfeld license also revealed that revenues increased 25% this year, and are expected to continue to increase thanks to rapid expansion and the addition of new collections and licensing deals, which are expected kick open new retail doors next year.

So we almost fell off our proverbial leather studded chairs yesterday when we figured out that Versace for H&M was not a one-off collab after all. There’s more to come! WWD has some more details today, and take a deep breath, US–we are getting stiffed this time around.

The new collection, designed by Donatella and her team, will go on sale January 19. The catch? It will only be sold by H&M online. Which means no dice for us Americans, because, if you’ll recall, H&M isn’t launching e-commerce stateside until Fall 2012, which is like nine months after this spring collection launches. Yeah, it’ll be sold out by then.

Karl Lagerfeld is dressing Lady Gaga tonight for the opening of Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys New York. Here’s Karl’s sketch of the dress–it’s white tweed with black trim and accessorized with Chanel pearls, camelias and bows. It’s certainly more subdued than other things Gaga has worn in the past but we’re sure she’ll find a way to make it stand out. Stay tuned for live Tweets from the opening as midnight approaches!

VERSACE-for-HM

Surprise! eBay shoppers may want to rethink their next bid. Just when everyone was starting to get over their post-Versace for H&M depression, comes word that the collaboration was not as limited-edition as we thought.

It turns out we’ll have another chance at Versace for H&M as soon as February, as there is a spring 2012 collection in the works, the Mirror UK reports. They even have a couple of shots of the collection, which includes strappy heels, bikinis and purple hotpants all covered in tiny fruit.

Audrey-Hepburn-Funny-Face-Wedding-Gown

A knock-off of Bella Swan’s wedding dress (Twilight‘s heroine, in case you’ve been living under a rock for three years) just went on sale (at left) and it got us thinking about memorable movie wedding dresses. Forget about people’s princesses who wear too much eyeliner or wannabe princesses who get divorced after 72 days: Movies are where the real, unattainable, fantasy love-and-marriage happens. From the classic to the garish, we’ve rounded up some truly unforgettable wedding gowns from all different eras. Click through to see yards of tulle and lace and dreams and butterflies on gorgeous actresses. Sigh.

Has being the only successful Project Runway winner made Christian Siriano greedy?

He may be making bank with his successful Payless collaboration, but apparently not enough. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Siriano’s talent agency Designer’s Management Agency is suing the designer for not paying them an agreed upon commission of 20% on profits from the partnership with Payless.

It’s become the inevitable next step following the launch of a hyped designer collaboration: eBay. The collections sell out, and immediately get posted on eBay at jacked up prices. “eBay has always been a destination for hot, hard to find products and even in the early days of the first designer collaborations we saw merchandise arise on eBay,” says Miriam Lahage, Global Head of Fashion Brand for eBay. “Even today there are still Luella Bartley for Target (one of the first designer collaborations) on eBay.”

In the case of Versace for H&M, the collection was up on eBay before the launch thanks to an editors-only pre-shop event following the runway show (we’re hoping these are clever interns and not top of the masthead folks looking to make a quick buck–even the gift bag items were up for sale). Since Versace for H&M launched at H&M stores nationwide on Saturday, there are 7,000 listings for the collection on eBay. According to eBay, the average selling price per garment is $191 (Lahage says that prices ‘normalize’ after the initial flurry of postings), the highest sold item was the leather gold studded trench for $899 (original retail price $399) and the most expensive item up for sale is the leather biker jacket with the studded lapels with an asking price of $1200 (originally priced at $299). “Versace for H&M” has been searched 40,000 times since Saturday.

dree-hemingway-vogue-spain-baby

When it comes to accessorizing an editorial, magazine editors know that there’s one thing that will never fail to instantly jazz up a shoot: Babies! You need only to look at Vogue Spain’s December cover, shot by Bruce Weber and starring a chubby baby’s behind (and we think that Dree Hemingway is in it as well? We weren’t paying attention…) to know what we mean.

Whether it’s baby carriages, baby bottles, or bare baby bums, there’s something about infants that is just so…chic, no? Take a look at the many fashion editorials featuring babies and get inspired to rock your baby (or niece or nephew) next time you really want to make an impression.

There’s only one question that remains: Just where, oh where, are magazines finding all these babies!?

13-vogue-covers

This fall, American Vogue released Vogue: The Covers (Abrams), a hardcover book of over 300 of the magazine’s best covers to date (add that to your holiday wish list of new fashion coffee table books).

The book spans 120 years (the first issue was in 1892) and Vogue.com recently posted a reduced list of their favorites. We’re still waiting for that online archive of every Vogue cover, but for now, it’s kind of amazing to see how much Vogue covers have changed over the decades. Compared to today’s somewhat formulaic, predictable crops of celebrities, the Condé glossy got pretty creative and even a little weird with their covers back in the day.

For example, a 1909 cover inexplicably features nothing more than an illustration of a black and white peacock, while another features a model with a giant pile of flowers atop her head. Click through for our 10 favorites.
