PEOPLE.com is seeking a Style Director who has a love for all things celebrity and fashion and an even more fierce passion for all things digital. The Style Director is responsible for editorial strategy and execution in the PEOPLE.com StyleWatch channel, as well as contributing to other channels and packages across the site. The director will be expected to guide idea generation, content creation and promotion, and digital product development. The director will also need to feel comfortable and have experience interfacing with design, technology, product management, marketing teams and audience development.
A full stash of contacts and a good Hollywood IQ is a must, as is prior experience with running social media streams and, preferably, ecommerce.
RESPONSIBILITIES: -Oversee all fashion and beauty content for PEOPLE.com. -Monitor trends in the competitive set, including in social media and product development -Develop on-brand content ideas for both editorial and publishing -Manage staffing and editorial calendar -Some nights and weekends are required for red carpet event coverage
QUALIFICATIONS: -Strong experience in writing and editing, including 8+ years working at a content-based web site or other fast-paced publication as a proven editorial contributor -Experience in managing staff and/or a department -The ability to work under pressure on tight deadlines -Full rolodex of fashion and beauty contacts and good relationships with publicists. Strong fashion editorial experience is preferred. -Deep understanding of SEO and social media, with an ease with working with metrics and understanding the competitive field -Strong organizational skills -Proven ability to provide self-direction and take direction -Experience working in a content management system is a plus -Ability to think both strategically and tactically -Strong content packaging skills, including video, UGC and blogs -Ability to track, interpret, and act on key web metrics
