Report: Marc Jacobs Will Make his Acting Debut in Disconnect Alongside Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard
By Hayley PhelanEver since we heard that Marc Jacobs was cast in a movie, we’ve been feverishly awaiting more information (and okay, maybe cooking up a few too many fantasy roles for him). Well, the wait is over.
According to Marc Jacob’s IMDB page, the designer has been cast in indie drama Disconnect, set to premiere in 2012. The film is directed by Henry Alex Rubin (who previously directed the Oscar-nominated documentary Murderball) and will feature a slew of notable actors including Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Andrea Riseborough, Paula Patton, Frank Grillo and Michael Nyqvist. And Marc Jacobs.
While the plotline is described only very briefly on IMDB as “a drama centered on a group of people searching for human connections in today’s wired world,” Collider has a few more details and sums up the story thusly:
“Skarsgard is in line to play a former Marine who is emotionally cut off from his wife, causing him to seek out an affair. Grillo will play a single father trying to protect his child from the dangers of the interwebs with [Collin] Ford playing his son who deals with emotional pain by talking to another troubled teen online under the pretense of being a teen girl. Nyqvist plays a man who Skarsgard and his wife suspect of taking their identity, and Riseborough is…a TV reporter who seeks out a story about a young man who poses nude online when she becomes frustrated with her job.”
There’s no word yet on who Marc Jacobs will play in the movie, but the designer did let slip that his role is “a character that’s not [like him] at all.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disconnect is currently filming in NYC. So let us know if you see Marc on set…
