Those of you who didn’t get to catch the buzzed about Halston documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year will have several opportunities after Christmas. The On Demand and theatrical release dates for Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston have been revealed exclusively to Fashionista.
The film will bow nationally On Demand via cable, VOD, iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly and Vudu on December 26, which is perfect timing for those of you who plan to snuggle up watching movies and Bravo for the entirety of your holiday vacation. Alternatively, if you want to see it on a big screen, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles on February 3, 2012.
This new comes on the heels of rumors that Halston is eyeing socialite-cum-celebrity designer Nicole Richie as its new creative director. While Halston, the label, may be having some problems right now, the film, which tells the story of late iconic designer Roy Halston, was generally well-received, with some criticism for Whitney Sudler-Smith’s directing. We think it’s worth seeing for interviews with André Leon Talley, Cathy Horyn and Liza Minelli, and also to learn the story of a pretty fascinating and influential person we don’t hear much about these days.
