Nicki Minaj Now Has a $1000 Barbie in Her Likeness (Which You Can Bid On), Might Launch a Clothing Line

Lady Gaga has her "Monsters" and Nicki Minaj has her "Barbies". And now she is a Barbie, courtesy of Mattel. It seems like this one might have been a no-brainer collaboration, but unfortunately you can't run out and get a Nicki Minaj Barbie for everyone on your holiday shopping list just yet.

The first issue? It costs $1,000. The second? Only one exists. The one-of-a-kind Nicki Minaj Barbie will be auctioned off for charity, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting. You can bid for it on CharityBuzz.com--it has a starting bid of $1,000 (though surely it will go for much more). The proceeds will benefit Project Angel Food, which provides food for people living with AIDS.

"Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She's been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times," a Mattel spokesperson told the Hollywood Reporter. "And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan. It's really exciting for us that she's been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause." But is a more accessible Nicki Minaj Barbie in the works? Barbie wouldn't confirm, but we say, "Duh."

And speaking of Minaj being "huge within the fashion industry," it looks like she may be taking the route of so many pop stars before her and launching a fragrance and clothing line of her own. This juicy tidbit in the article caught our attention:

"With her team, we're all working and in discussions on a fragrance deal," says Mark Cheatham, a music agent at Creative Artists Agency who helped secure Minaj's opening slot on Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour this year. "We're also in discussions with different apparel companies as well. We're expecting that will make her a mainstream brand."

With a sure-to-be successful range of OPI nail polish coming in the new year, a new stint as MAC's Viva Glam spokesperson, a voice-over job in the new Ice Age flick, a Billboard "Rising Star" award, and a possible clothing line in the works, Nicki Minaj may be the most popular Barbie of 2012.
