This makes sense: After years of producing sought-after bridal collections, Vera Wang is finally giving some love to the groom, with a new line of tuxedos exclusively for The Men’s Wearhouse, WWD is reporting.
While neither Wang nor The Men’s Wearhouse have officially confirmed the new partnership, WWD seems pretty sure it’s going to happen. Apparently in its third-quarter conference call last week, the Men’s Wearhouse hinted at the collaboration, saying that they would reveal a “new licensing arrangement…with a well-known apparel brand, specifically designed for our tuxedo rental business.” Wang is expected to make the announcement tomorrow.

Yesterday we stopped by Sephora to get a peep at the new uniforms that Prabal Gurung designed for the store’s “cast members” (aka the perfectly made-up girls and guys who sell you all your beauty must-haves). The uniforms are black with red accents: guys wear a black shirt with red detailing along the shoulder and arms. Girls have a choice of a tunic dress with a back vent (again, red at the shoulders and arms and in the vent’s opening). There’s also a pretty cute tuxedo suit option for the women. They’ll debut in all US Sephora stores in the spring.
Prabal spoke briefly to the small crowd of editors assembled for the presentation, and he is quite charming in person (seriously, his accent is soothing). He told the crowd that when he was a fashion student at Parsons, he would attend fashion shows or events, and use the makeup that he got in his goody bags to do fashion illustrations. He also revealed that while it was challenging to work with some of the guidelines that Sephora gave him, “This particular tunic was something that I’d wanted to do for my own collection for a long time. I’d never had an opportunity.” And that red and black palette? “Red is my favorite color. I’m Aries and I love red!” he said.
We caught up with him for a private chat, where revealed he’d like to extend his brand into beauty:
Kardashians Setting Up Shop in Dallas:Say what you want about the Kardashian Krew, just don’t call them lazy. With Khloe’s hubby Lam-Lam now traded to the Mavericks, word is they’re already scoping out locations for a new DASH store in Dallas. Werk, girls, get that ka$h. {TMZ}
Gwyneth’s GOOP App Promotes Expensive Living: Always wondered where to get the best kelp smoothie in New York? Ya, me neither. But Gwyneth Paltrow now has an app for that. Her GOOP NYC app may only cost $3.99, but you’re guaranteed to spend thousands more if you actually follow in her perfectly aligned footsteps. {Gawker}

Madewell’s Spring 2012 look book has finally arrived, courtesy of Lucky magazine, and it’s just as pretty, wearable and drool-worthy as we suspected it would be. Of course we saw everything back in October, but the clothes never looks as good as when the styling geniuses at Madewell get their hands on them.
There are pretty, mid-calf skirts, color-blocked tees, and perfectly beachy washed out stripes. The denim, always one of Madewell‘s strong suits, is particularly on point–we love the green and pale yellow jeans as well as the overalls. But our favorite piece has to be the denim jacket with colorblock sleeves.
Now all we have to do is wait a few more months until we can purchase all these goodies. Sigh.

This position is for someone with great style who also understands retail math.
One thing I love about Bravo is that their producers are clearly all pot-stirrers who aren’t going to let any point of conflict get glossed over. So, it’s very satisfying to see in the above clip from It’s a Brad, Brad World, that Brad openly addresses what would have been the elephant in the room–where things stand with his former boss Rachel Zoe–and he seems kinda stressed out about it. Would you buy a Chanel paper shopping bag, without any actual, you know, Chanel inside? In China, increasingly, the answer is yes.
There is a growing market for counterfeit designer shopping bags in China, according to China Daily. And yes, we mean the paper bags, stamped with the designer brand’s logo, that are normally given to customers to carry their purchases away in. A quick search on China’s most popular online shopping site, Taobao.com (the same site that sold Versace for H&M before it officially hit stores) reveals that paper shopping bags from brands like Hermes, Chanel and Burberry, are available for purchase, ranging in price from about 5 yuan ($0.78) to 40 yuan ($6.28).
Elizabeth Taylor‘s dazzling jewelry collection was auctioned off Tuesday night, bringing in close to $116 million–a world record for a private jewelry collection.
“It’s one of the most extraordinary auctions that Christie’s has ever had and a testament to the affection for Elizabeth Taylor worldwide,” Christie’s Americas President Marc Porter told the New York Post.
Taylor’s one-of-a-kind diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls–80 pieces comprised “The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor”–sold for prices that shattered Christies’ estimates. “To the best of my knowledge only two items sold within auction estimates,” wrote Anthony DeMarco at Forbes. “The rest of the lots made the estimates look like afterthoughts as a jammed room full of bidders competed for items with telephone buyers from around the world.”
The big winner of the night wasn’t, as everyone expected, the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond (that’s the 33.19-carat diamond ring Richard Burton gave her and that she wore every day)–though that fetched $8.8 million.
We were surprised and excited to hear that Versace for H&M was releasing a cruise collection this winter, after the hype and success of the line they released in November. Then we were disappointed, because the collection will only be available online, and H&M doesn’t have e-commerce in the US yet–we have to wait until fall 2012.
The cruise collection will be available online January 19, and Vogue UK posted all the pictures of the full range for men and women. So if you have a friend abroad or are planning to travel to Europe in January, plan your shopping accordingly. Or just look and mourn, like we are. Read more »
