Believe it or not, we are already nearing the end of 2011. So, before we prepare to embark on what will surely be a very stylish 2012, we decided to take a look back at some of 2011′s most stylish people and moments.
It wasn’t easy picking just 20, but we think the following ladies made the biggest impact and smartest choices this year. From starlets to musicians to editors, click through for who we believe to be the 20 best dressed gals of the year (and five of their best looks). Who do you think was this year’s best dressed?
Hello Kitty is looking pretty chic these days, no? The lovable Sanrio character is having a Black Pink Swan moment in a feathered frock and matching signature bow on the cover of Elle Taiwan to celebrate the magazine’s 20th anniversary. Read more »
It will come as no shock to anyone with a pulse and a passing interest in beauty and fashion to learn that nail polish is really effing popular. Consumers, magazines, blogs, men, 5-year-olds–pretty much everyone is into nails.
And it shows no signs of stopping any time soon. We still obsessively search for close-ups of celeb talons and wait with bated breath during every Chanel runway show to see what is gracing the models’ fingers. We jump on every press release touting something new in nails (magnetic polish! nail wraps!) And we’re not the only ones. As the year comes to an end, let’s take a few moments to reflect about all the nuttiness that is nails, by the numbers. We did all the math for you:
So this video, shot by photographer Marcus Gaab for the latest issue of I Love You Magazine, and posted on Nowness, is unsurprisingly full of Tyra’s smizes and emotive stares. She screams, scrunches her face in confusion, shouts “I hate you,” then gesticulates “I love you,” does a weird robotic dance and stares at the camera all wide-eyed and crazed. So, you know, just your average day with Ty Ty. Read more »

“Once I got there, there was no point in being afraid,” said Daisy Lowe about her Oyster cover shoot in which she had to mingle with live snakes.
Photographed by Will Davidson with creative direction by Stevie Dance, this editorial isn’t messing around. Lowe channels bad girl Sixties brides (you know, the kind to wed without pants) and proves that she might just be the sexiest Brit-girl around. (Sorry, Pippa.)
We got a preview of her interview with Zac Bayly in Oyster where she talks about the term “It-Girl” (she hates it), her 2010 Pirelli shoot with Terry Richardson (she loved it), and prancing around in her underwear. (You guess.)
The First Lady has been looking chic and festive at all her official holiday duties. To the White House Hanukkah reception on December 8, Michelle Obama wore a blue silk lame number by Rodarte (blue being very Hanukkah appropriate) and to the ‘Christmas in Washington’ gala on December 11 she wore a lovely forest green number by Cushnie et Ochs (which is maybe the first time she’s worn the label?). Though we have to give props to Sasha and Malia, too, who clearly take after mom when it comes to having awesome style. Read more »
Jessica Simpson Scores Deal To Lose Her Baby Weight Before She Even Has a Baby: Weight Watchers is paying Jessica Simpson a cool $3 million to lose her baby weight using their weight loss plan. We thought breast-feeding was enough to make you lose it all. No? {Jezebel}
The Free Tote Bag Is the New “It” Bag: We knew it was a good idea to keep all those free totes we’ve accumulated over the years. Use them proudly, because free is apparently the new $2000. (It’s annoying that they don’t have any compartments and pockets, though.) {NYT}
Jimmy Choo Makes Coffee Holders: Need a last minute stocking stuffer for that fancy coffee drinker in your life? They can cover up their Dunkin Donuts cup with this leather Jimmy Choo coffee cup sleeve, which is a mere $125. Just don’t slosh or drip on it, for heaven’s sake. Do you know what Splenda can do to leather? {Pursuitist}
From the magazine that brought you Andrej Pejic as Marilyn Monroe comes another surprise shoot and interview with Kardashian-for-all-intents-and-purposes Kendall Jenner. We got our hands on a sneak peek at the recently-turned 16-year-old’s “sexy” shoot for new mag Lovecat and exclusive first look at the interview.
Lovecat, which is in its third issue, bills itself as a “model fanzine” and called its last issue the “Sextember Issue.” We have to admit we were a little worried upon seeing “KENDALL JENNER SEXY SHOOT” in our inboxes, especially after her recent bikini shoot. But there’s nothing scandalous here. If anything, it’s all a little random.
