We didn’t quite make it to our TV in time on Sunday morning to catch Anna Wintour on CBS’ Sunday Morning, but that’s why the internet exists, right? We checked out the 8-minute long profile, which was more a look back at Vogue and its covers than a meaty interview with its EIC. But it is definitely worth a watch. Besides the nostalgia and fashion history lesson (and the fact that the adorable Hamish Bowles walks Serena Altschul through the covers and digital archive), there’s some hope that people who don’t have $1,500 to blow on yearly access will get a chance to have a peep at that intriguing archive. Is Alice Dellal the New Face of Chanel?
Karl Lagerfeld does not shy away from quirky ladies to front his Chanel bag campaigns: Lily Allen was a recent face, as was the more model-esque Blake Lively. But Karl definitely has punk proclivities, as evidenced by his new harder-edged, lower-priced Karl line; perhaps his immersion in that recent project explains his rumored choice for Chanel’s next bag lady.

Franca Sozzani on Vogue Italia’s Controversial Karlie Kloss Editorial: ‘I Made a Mistake’
You didn’t think Franca Sozzani would just gloss over the growing controversy over Karlie Kloss’ Steven Meisel-shot editorial, right? The always outspoken EIC of Vogue Italia has taken to her blog today to address what she’s calling “The Truth About Karlie Kloss and Steven Meisel Photos.”
She specifically talks about the photo–you know, the one that mysteriously disappeared from Vogue Italia’s website, the one with Karlie’s abs of steel contorted such that they caused an internet commotion last week, with many people calling either “anorexia” or “photoshop.”
According to Sozzani, it was neither.

Meryl Streep, who is starring in the new Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, covers the January 2012 issue of Vogue. Streep, who of course played the thinly-veiled Anna Wintour character in The Devil Wears Prada, was featured on the cover of Vogue Paris back in May 2010, but this marks her first time covering the US version. At 62, she is also the oldest Vogue cover model. Read more »
On set at a Victoria’s Secret PINK shoot in Miami a few weeks ago, model Behati Prinsloo seemed perfectly happy and at ease in front of the camera and amongst the crew and hair and makeup team, who Prinsloo calls “my family.” But the 22-year-old model says working in the industry hasn’t always been easy.
“You’re sixteen and thrown into this world of adults, and you have to be an adult,” Behati, who was discovered at age 15, told us. “You have to deal with everything, you have to deal with your money and with rejection. You grow up really quick. It’s very stressful, it’s a lot of traveling, a lot of time away from family, a lot of dealing with stuff you shouldn’t be dealing with at that age.”

Pre-fall usually offers a glimpse of what’s in a designer’s head for fall, and Christopher Bailey is clearly having a sedate, tweedy, ladylike reverie. And for a fashion house whose bread and butter is the trench coat, Burberry probably breathes a little easier when there’s a nip in the air. The coats are always the anchor of a Burberry collection, and this one includes a lovely mix of wool and tweed with a bit of mink thrown in for good measure. With muted, dusty colors like mustard, blue sage, and charcoal, you can imagine a bunch of people hanging out at an English country house wearing this collection.

Last Night’s Party: The Glamourai’s Kelly Framel Says She’s Not a Journalist and Doesn’t Like the Term ‘Blogger’
Despite the crisp holiday chill finally landing in New York, it was all about the warm weather days at the Ash flagship in Soho last night. The Italian contemporary shoe brand presented their spring 2012 line at a bash hosted by Kelly Framel of the Glamourai and with festive tunes provided by a smokey-eyed Becka Diamond. For those not quite ready to view shoes they can’t buy yet (the Fall 2011 styles are on sale, if you’re wondering), make-up applications, manis and braid and bang styling were also on tap for partiers. Plus in the spirit of the season, guests were encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Jessica Seinfeld’s Baby Buggy charity.
Even though we’re finally ready to settle into our winter booties, we headed upstairs to the loft area check out Ash’s spring styles.

Fashion Intern Horror Stories: What Really Happens During Unpaid Internships
A recent government crackdown is shaking London’s fashion industry. The UK’s HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, a dept. of the UK government responsible for collecting taxes) has reportedly sent letters to 102 fashion houses warning them that they are under scrutiny and urging them to pay their interns the minimum wage or face penalties.
Of course, unpaid fashion internships happen, and their legality is debated here in the states as well. In fact, the phrase “unpaid fashion internship” sounds a bit redundant in my mind because you’d be hard-pressed to find a fashion internship that wasn’t unpaid. It’s a tricky situation that lacks an obvious solution.
