Kendall is a former fashion editor who has written for NYmag.com, Lucky, InStyle, and NBC. She recently scrapped that glamorous life and is pursuing an MBA at MIT Sloan, in hopes of becoming an entrepreneur.

Last we left off, I had highlighted some ideas for funding business school and deciding which programs to apply to. Now it’s time for the big reveal: what business school is ACTUALLY like. Spoiler alert: it’s crazy. I’ve been at MIT Sloan for three months now, and I’ve gone through almost every human emotion: elation, frustration, contentment, sadness, exhaustion, delight, etc . This portrayal might seem overly dramatic (and ok, maybe it is), but at least among my friends, this rollercoaster is pretty standard.

Let me start from the beginning.

We gotta hand it to Vice on this one: Shooting a douche-y American Psycho-themed fashion editorial at Occupy Wall Street is kinda perfect. They really laid it on thick, handing their models caviar to eat daintily next to dreadlocked activists and creating hilarious cardboard signs for their models to carry which read “It’s Not My (De)Fault” and “Suck 1% of My Dick.” Classy!

What do you think–pitch perfect or pushing it?

Click through to see our favorite shots (the bongos, the bongos!) and head over the Vice to see it in full.

Carey-Mulligan-W-magazine-January-2012-cover

Franca Sozzani Doesn’t Do Meetings: The long-time EIC of Vogue Italia told Industrie that she never – NEVER! – participates in sit-downs because “responsible and creative” people “don’t need to have a teacher.” I think my elementary school art teacher would respectfully disagree with that statement, Ms. Sozzani. {Telegraph}

Carey Mulligan Looks Flawless on W, Has a Chip(munk) On Her Shoulder: Carey gets another cover – but this time it’s a new photo! The lady looks phenom in her dainty (Nina Ricci?) bra. {Style Frizz}

Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy Spread is Not So Bad: Damn that girl is stacked. And no full frontal. Brava Lindsay. {OhNoTheyDidn’t}

It’s been a big week for Elite. Not only is the modeling agency celebrating the 28th edition of its annual Model Look Contest in Shanghai, it has also just announced the launch of its first Chinese branch in the same city.

This will encourage local shoots, boost Chinese models’ careers worldwide, and add Asia onto Western models’ radars, explained Elite World’s president Vick Mihaci.

This is hardly a surprising move considering China is the world’s second largest luxury consumer while production costs remain remarkably low. Efforts by big western brands to target the local market are endless, ranging from the soaring number of Western mags’ Chinese editions (including the local-only Elle Man or Harper’s Bazaar Art, to Hermès’ China-only brand Shang Xia, to big brands like Burberry, Chanel putting on shows in Shanghai or Prada putting on a show in Beijing.

But Elite’s new venture is a two-pronged effort:

H&M Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

When it was announced that H&M would release a Girl with the Dragon Tattoo-inspired line designed by the film’s costume designer, Trish Summerville, some die-hard Lisbeth fans balked. Lisbeth, a loner misfit who shuns society, wouldn’t be down with the the commercialization of her image, was the criticism. Summerville’s appropriate response? “She’s a character from books,” she told the NY Post. “So she doesn’t really have a voice in it.” But a new, more serious, issue has come to light regarding the collection, in stores on December 14, and the fact that Lisbeth’s character is a rape survivor.

The WSJ noticed some internet rumblings about the questionable propriety of basing a clothing line on a rape victim, whose experiences essentially cause her to “retreat into a dark, genderless, punk shell of a life — with a tough-but-listless wardrobe to match.” Lisbeth Salander is one of those literary characters who stays with you a long time after you shut the book–just imagine how strongly she must resonate with people who have had similar experiences.

Writer Natalie Karneef, who is a rape survivor, posted an open letter to H&M about the collection.

The 2012 Pirelli calendar debuted this week, and it’s been getting a lot of attention, to say the least (and I am convinced it’s entirely because of Lara Stone). Mario Sorrenti said he didn’t want the calendar to be too sexy, but it’s like the sexiest thing ever. Yes, the end result is a bunch of top tier naked models looking stunning–the whole thing was shot outdoors in Corsica–but I’d argue that the behind-the-scenes video is even more compelling. In anticipation of her upcoming performance at Town Hall in NYC, style icon, songstress and philanthropist Jane Birkin spoke to WWD about music, her famous and hip offspring and that bag that Hermès named after her, which happens to have just broken the world record for most expensive bag ever to be sold at a public auction. Instead of putting it on a pedestal like the person who paid $203,150 for one might, she leverages it for charity:

A denim fashion show by RichJuz

Happy Friday. You’re welcome. My favorite parts from this almost-better-than-cat-videos J.C. Penney “fashion flash” video:
- The narration: “Scuncis of every imaginable color!” (ex-scuns me, I believe it’s pronounced ‘scrunchy’–or he’s just name-checking these.)
- Joe’s two (TWO!) open denim shirts. (Is that what they call ‘fifth gear’?) “Elvis couldn’t have done it better,” says our friend the narrator. AGREED!
- The dancing! Why does no one dance like Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club anymore? Can we bring that back? Also can some designer do a dancing fashion show? Consider this a call to action.

We haven’t rolled out of bed early to run to the TV on a Sunday morning since the days of weekend cartoon extravaganzas. But we might make an exception this weekend, because Anna Wintour and Hamish Bowles are going on CBS Sunday Morning to talk 120 years of Vogue, the new (costly) digital archives and Vogue covers. Definitely worth trying to stay hang-over free on Sunday morning, right?

WWD has a few tidbits from Anna’s interview with reporter Serena Altschul (yay MTV news alums!). Of her first-ever Vogue cover in 1988, which was an outtake from a non-cover shoot in which she featured a model wearing jeans:
