Karl Lagerfeld just sent his Métiers d’Art Pre-Fall 2012 collection for Chanel down this amazing “runway” at the Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais in Paris. Sadly, we are not there, but photos of the setting are trickling in on Twitter, and it looks like the biggest, most decadent banquet ever. Read more »

Modeling has always been a profession that elicits curiosity and courts controversy. A new documentary, called About Face, is going to give us a glimpse into the experiences of a group of supermodels from the 70s and 80s, and it sure doesn’t sound like it’s going to be pretty.

The film, which premieres at Sundance in January, will be available to the masses on HBO in the summer, WWD is reporting. The movie is definitely not a shiny, happy portrayal of modeling. Vanity Fair photog Timothy Greeenfield-Sanders shot the film to take a look at the “models as survivors, blessed with beauty, yet condemned by society’s less-than-tolerant view of aging and its relentless celebration of youth.”

JULIA-5

Here’s a sexy little surprise to start off the day: For her first ever design gig, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has designed a capsule collection of lingerie for Kiki de Montparnasse. As we reported back in September, Roitfeld mysteriously hinted that she might be working on a lingerie line, but nothing was confirmed until now, which is great because you’ll only have to wait about a week to get your hands on the lacy creations. According to Elle, the collection hits stores next Wednesday.

“I was at the Kennedy Center Honors last night so I haven’t slept, so things are gonna get funky,” Anne Hathaway said, on hand yesterday for the launch of the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum at MoMA. “I’m bringing the funk to MoMA!” Hathaway looked gorgeous in Valentino and well-rested from my vantage point, but some awkward moments (at one point she said, while on stage, ‘I’d like to invite Mr. Valentino and Mr. Giammetti to invite me to the stage”) seemed to confirm that she hadn’t slept much (and maybe enjoyed some champers, too).

But Hathaway’s kooky emceeing couldn’t detract from the truly groundbreaking work Valentino and his partner Giancarlo Giammetti have achieved in creating a virtual museum that houses and comprehensively breaks down five decades of Valentino’s work. Hathaway called the museum a “revolution” and that she did not believe that word choice was “hyperbolic.” We’re with her there. A quick run down of what you’ll find upon downloading the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum (here’s the link):

There are truly no words to describe this video of Victoria’s Secret model Doutzen Kroes dancing, stripping and rolling around on the floor, all while jingling some bells and belting Mariah Carey’s classic “All I Want for Christmas is You” (our favorite). And unlike that time she sang “Jingle Bells” with her fellow Angels for a Victoria’s Secret promo, she actually seems to know all the words. How she does this while looking like a gorgeous model and not a complete lunatic is one of those model mysteries we’ll never be able to solve. Read more »

Taking fuddy duddy, traditionally American things and turning them into high fashion seems to be a budding trend. (See: Glamping.) The latest target of the luxury fashion world’s makeover is everyone’s favorite holiday tradition: The Christmas Sweater.

Somewhere between classy (as defined by Derek Blasberg) and campy (as defined by Corky St. Clair) is this list of Christmas sweaters from big name designers like Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs. It’s the best new mix of high and low, plus you’ll probably wear these Christmas sweaters again, as opposed to the one your mom made you with yarn and a hot glue gun. (Sorry, Mom!)

Check out the festive options available for Christmas and get in the holiday spirit!

Okay, so that was sort of a rhetorical question. I mean who wouldn’t want the flawless skin, perfect bods and flowing, perfectly-undone hair we see on any given VS model–and it’s all totally natural, right?

Well, not exactly. Because while these ladies are certainly gorgeous, they’re not as perfect as you might think. They, too, have puffy eyes, dull skin, bad hair days and, yes, even blemishes, just like the rest of us. That’s where Colleen Creighton and Pasquale Ferrante–the beauty and hair geniuses behind many a Victoria’s Secret and Victoria’s Secret PINK look–come in.

We went behind the scenes at a Victoria’s Secret PINK shoot in Miami, courtesy of Alison Brod PR, to find out all the secrets that go into looking like a VS model straight from the source. Read on to find out how you can get the look, with tips from Creighton, Ferrante and some of the models themselves!

Searching for the perfect outfit to wear to that festive holiday party? Nothing says the holidays like a patterned sweater, and we found a doozy. At first glance it appears to have a happy autumnal motif. But look a little closer.

This BDG sweater is covered in a pattern that represents all the best vices: beer, cigs, pills (two different kinds), mushrooms, and pot. You can pick this baby up (on sale!) at Urban Outfitters for $49. (Which is like the equivalent of 10 Bud Light six-packs. Or an eighth of really, really bad weed.)

We wouldn’t recommend wearing it to Grandma’s house. Or a work party. Or to attempt to adopt a baby.

Did model-of-the-moment Karlie Kloss suddenly become the new face of CoverGirl over the weekend? Or is there yet another fake ad campaign swirling the internets. This image was posted on Fashin today and, at first glance, is pretty convincing as a CoverGirl print ad, with a glammed-up Karlie and black-and-white shots of Pat McGrath doing her makeup. Still, we were skeptical. Read more »
