We’re all Hunger Games fanatics here at Fashionista, so it is with some degree of glee that I write this. All good concepts ultimately get a parody (like Star Wars got Space Balls and Lord of the Rings got this amazing Jack Black parody.) The Hunger Games is no exception, earning a spoof called The Hunger But Mainly Death Games–you can watch the trailer here.

While we are pretty used to seeing movie tie-in merch for pretty much everything these days, I can agree that perhaps a nail polish line based on a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world seems a bit silly. (See Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket at left as the “face” of the real collection, via Racked.) So did the Hunger Games parody people, who just released their own line of nail polish in response. And it is brilliant. With names like Nervous Tribute Yellow and specialty bottles, it rivals anything that, you know, actual cosmetics companies produce.
