The 2012 Pirelli calendar debuted this week, and it's been getting a lot of attention, to say the least (and I am convinced it's entirely because of Lara Stone). Mario Sorrenti said he didn't want the calendar to be too sexy, but it's like the sexiest thing ever. Yes, the end result is a bunch of top tier naked models looking stunning--the whole thing was shot outdoors in Corsica--but I'd argue that the behind-the-scenes video is even more compelling.

It shows Sorrenti with each model, and he starts shooting them in various states of undress before he goes to full-on nudity. The half-dressed, wet t-shirt look from a lot of the preliminary shoots (and the interaction with Sorrenti) is sexier to me than some of the end results. But I'm not the intended audience for this calendar, I suppose. It was also a pleasure to see models in their natural state without re-touching--still gorgeous, but more human (Saskia has a very strange sunburn). The commentary from the models is also entertaining, as is watching Sorrenti's serious shots as he stares intently at the models and flips his hair around. If you have 20 minutes to kill, it's worth a view.
