New week, new spring campaigns. This Monday morning brings us Roberto Cavalli, Tom Ford and Galliano.
Cavalli cast supermodels Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, and Kristen McMenamy in its glittery spring 2012 Steven-Meisel-shot campaign along with rising star Daphne Groeneveld (or, as Fashin so bluntly puts it, “three queens and a prop”). It’s awesome to see a campaign where the average model age is around 33, even with 16-year-old Daphne bringing the average wayyy down.
The normally sexy serious Tom Ford is all smiles for spring (but still sexy, obvi). The campaign stars Mirte Maas and Mathias Bergh and was shot by Ford himself (he used Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for last season’s campaign), WWD is reporting. “I love it when you bite my ankle!” we imagine Mirte says.
And last up, Galliano has released its spring 2012 campaign–which takes a page from Muiccia Prada’s optimistic ’50s Americana hot-rod tip and put Constance Jablonski and Benjamin Eidem in a fancy Cadillac convertible (anything to distance the brand from John Galliano). According to WWD, the campaign, lensed by Sebastian Kim, depicts a road trip to Las Vegas. There’s definitely a Fear and Loathing vibe going on (Benjamin Eidem is styled just like Johnny Depp/Hunter S. Thompson) which maybe isn’t the best reference (drugs, recklessness) for a brand trying to get consumers to forget its namesake.
