We're not sure if it was to ensure that we all knew about the big slit on the right side of her dress, distract us from how skinny she is or make her Versace gown look like more than a big blob of black fabric, but Angelina Jolie spent all of Oscar night deliberately sticking her right leg out as much as she possibly could. She did this not only when posing for photos, but even on stage while presenting the Best Adapted Screenplay award, inspiring winners Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, and Jim Rash to mimic her pose. Thank you, Descendents writers.

Whatever Angelina was trying to do last night, it worked. That right leg did not go unnoticed. In fact, it became the evening's breakout star--and, thus, a Twitter trending topic and an internet meme as well.

According to The Academy, there were 3,399 tweets per minute about her last night, putting J.Lo's nipple to shame. The best iterations of the Angie's right leg meme on the internet so far include: a Twitter (yep, @Angiesrightleg is a Twitter account); Buzzfeed's "Best 10 Pictures of Angleina Jolie's right leg"; "legbombing", i.e., random photos with Angelina's right leg Photoshopped into them; plus, substantial media attention from The Telegraph, The Hollywood Reporter, Today, The L.A. Times, US Weekly, The Daily Mail and more.

So there's plenty of time-wasting material there if you're craving some more of that leg action. Aside from Sascha Baron Cohen pouring Kim Jung Il's "ashes" all over Ryan Seacrest's Burberry suit and Gwyneth looking amazing in Tom Ford, it's not like there's much else to talk about from last night anyway.

So what's next for Angelina Jolie's right leg? Do you think Jolie's limb has internet staying power, or is it just having its 15 minutes? Will Jolie have to keep wearing thigh-baring dresses? So many questions.
