“[Topshop has] been so supportive of my work from the very beginning and this range will be the most ambitious one we’ve done and the most fun,” Katrantzou told Vogue UK. “My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that is as close to the aesthetic of my mainline as possible, with great control over the quality of design and production.”
To wit, the 10-piece collection features dresses, trousers, T-shirts, blouses and skirts, that perfectly mirror Karantzou‘s signature style with vibrant, clashing prints and smart tailoring. The prices are obviously a lot friendlier than her main line (where her handmade embellished dresses go for thousands of dollars) but they’re a bit pricey by high street standards, ranging from £350 (for a short frock) to £40 (for jersey leggings)–though you can think of it as an investment since the whole industry is expecting big things from Katrantzou, who recently received the British Fashion Council Award.
And to her credit, the designer is as excited as we are about the collaboration: “I can’t wait to see the Topshop girls in the bowl dresses and for the most daring to see them try the print on print layering!” she told Vogue UK.
We wholeheartedly agree!
