Six finalists from De Montfort University in Leicester, England have been selected to compete for the chance to design a shoe just for Kate, People is reporting. Kate herself will pick the pair she likes the best on March 8 during a visit that marks the start of a UK tour commemorating the Queen’s 60 years on the throne. The six finalists, two of whom are interning with none other than Dame Vivienne Westwood, found inspiration in a variety of sources, ranging from Prince William and Kate’s coat of arms to the Duchess’ engagement ring and wedding gown. The Daily Mail has photos of the final six shoe design sketches, narrowed down from over 100 by DMU faculty. The winning design will be made and presented to Kate within a few weeks of the contest.
Any one of the six designs would definitely be a huge change from Kate’s normal kicks, and considering that her wardrobe breaks records, it will most certainly be a major coup for the winner’s resume. Who will you be rooting for?
