No, really! For us, it’s a big deal because we love the clothes, the celebs, and any chance for a sartorial train wreck. But what we really mean by “big deal” is that for the designers, having a starlet wear your frock on the red carpet and spouting your name to every news outlet that asks “who are you wearing?” is major. The amount of publicity that a designer gets from such high-wattage stars wearing their creations is priceless–so priceless that sometimes they pay big bucks for deals with the lovely ladies, as the New York Post reported last week. The red carpet season holds huge opportunities for designers to get international coverage and press. Halle Berry and Elie Saab: Need we say more?
There are a handful of red carpet designer mainstays that we’re sure you’ve noticed. Some designers are immediate go-to’s for stylists, and as a result, there’s a lot of repetition. We looked at the red carpets from the three biggest film and television award shows from the past few months–the Golden Globes, SAGs and Oscars–to determine which designer was represented the most.
