What will probably just look like an outlandish movie costume to most, will for fashion obsessives, immediately recall Giles Deacon's spring 2012 collection and those masterful swan-shaped headpieces created by Stephen Jones.
On the left is a still from the forthcoming Snow White adaptation (not the Kristen Stewart one) called Mirror Mirror, which stars Lily Collins as the protagonist (and Julia Roberts as the evil queen). Judging by the below clip, the film has a goofy, over-the-top feel and the headpiece is worn to some sort of (masquerade?) ball. It's unlikely the Snow White costume was inspired by Giles--the first images from the film were released all the way back in July, months before he showed. Must be a case of great minds thinking alike.
All of the costumes we've seen from the film (especially Julia Roberts') look stunning. Not surprisingly, they were designed by Eiko Ishioka, an acclaimed Japanese designer (she won an Oscar for creating the costumes for Dracula), who sadly passed away just 12 days ago.
