Starring Jennifer Lopez, Tarsem Singh made his directorial debut with the psychological thriller The Cell in 2000. Ishioka was the costumer designer for this film, where she infamously insisted Lopez wear an uncomfortable headdress for a scene in which she played a sex slave. Singh would remain loyal to her, having her design for each of his films until her death in 2012.
