Katniss Everdeen’s Braid: Braids have been a fashion statement for many seasons now, and when we saw Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss braid, we sort of swooned. But lest you think it is supposed to be fashionable, it isn’t.

According to Linda Flowers, the head hair designer for The Hunger Games, in an interview with Bella Sugar, it was meant to be a “functioning braid that someone who hunts would wear.” To that end, she wanted the braid to sit close to the nape of the neck, so she came up with a reverse french braid. Flowers also had to take Lawrence’s hair color from blonde to brown, but before she touched a strand of hair on the star’s head, Flowers rented five $6,000 wigs in different shades of brown.
