My first London Fashion Week, with Faran
Very few Americans covered the London shows at this point—and even fewer digital writers—which made for a fly by the seat of our pants kind of week. If you have to fly by the seat of your pants you probably want to do it with Faran. I was armed with tickets to about one show a day while she’d established herself as the go-to American in London, so she took me under her wing and I managed to sneak into just about everything. At Luella, she marched up to the door and said, “I’m sorry, we’re Americans and we have no idea what’s going on but I’m pretty sure we’re supposed to be inside that tent.” We were inside before the PRs knew what to make of our nonsense, snacking on breakfast marshmallows and sipping tea in Hyde Park’s Crystal Palace.
